In Kherson, a clearly marked UN vehicle delivering aid to civilians was hit by two drone strikes. Earlier this week, another UN aid truck was struck in the Dnipro region. Humanitarians risk their lives to reach people in need. Civilians and aid workers must be protected. They are #NotATarget.

Yesterday, the House of Lords debated changes to the asylum system that will make more people destitute. These changes are part of a wider government plan to further weaponise destitution as a means of immigration control. This is grotesque.

Stripping support from people seeking safety while continuing to ban most people from working is outrageous. People seeking asylum receive £1.40 a day in hotels, or £7 a day in houses. These poverty-inducing levels of support push people into exploitation and irregular work to survive.

Today's speech by the Home Secretary marks a dangerous shift to a system where rights are negotiable, discrimination becomes policy & state coercion is reframed as a cost-cutting measure. If the Government continues down this path, it will not outflank the far-right but normalise it.
