Drove back home yesterday, did the sums on driving around. Highway + city driving, made 6.2L/100km, then highway driving I was at 5.3L/100km. With the current fuel prices, I can't complain about that.

Bit of a nightmare drive down today. Four sets of roadwork traffic lights with follow-me vehicles. Three of them in about a 15km stretch. I think the quickest wait was 7 minutes. Argh!

I need to find out if there is anything exciting happening while I'm down in the city next week.

I just checked. My MUCK characters are 29 years old now... and still perfectly accessible, which is actually pretty impressive.

Second Bunnings trip of the day done and for the second time, they didn't have what I was after.

The one thing I really wanted from the hardware store was sold out. I have ordered one. So I bought a reciprocating saw instead.

Well, we survived Cyclone Narelle. It was forecast to hit us here last night, but I think the low coming up from the south pushed it more east. Last night was eerily dead still and we got a total of 1.2mm of rain at my place.

No, apparently they think it will be a cat 2 now. It is dead still out there now. The place has a sort of ominous calm before the storm sort of vibe happening.

Looks like the cyclone will be about cat 1 when it passes us and passing further east which is apparently good news. Does mean it will go pretty much over the top of site though. We might be finding out how wind proof some of our things are.

Last night the temp was 24C at 6pm. By 11pm it was 29C. The start of the funky weather has arrived.

"Severe cyclone possible" That is not what you want to see on the forecast.

I am not a fan of some of the cyclone track predictions. I don't want another cyclone.

I have been trying to close an internet account at work. I get a copy of the invoice, I thought they'd be happy with that, but no, they need a phone number to verify the account, except there is no phone number on the account, I give my number over the phone which they then use to verify its me. ?

On this day 14 years ago, I was riding the Death Road. That was a good trip.

The weather up here has been icky the last few days. Went from 26C on Tuesday, to 41C, then 39C, 38C and set for 39C today. Tomorrow is a cool 36C. It's the minimums though, got down to 24C last night, but at about 80% humidity and no wind (which is really rare here). Like post cyclone weather.

Not the best, but last one for a while.

That was fun. Walked into the toilet at SES and there was a gwardar (aka Western Brown Snake) wriggling on the floor and looking pissed. We took it outside. It was not a happy snake.

Youtube keeps giving me feeds of people resurrecting dead machines and all I can think of is I know where there is an ancient grader that hasn't moved for probably at least 20 years.

And the lawn is mowed and half a roof swept. Didn't sweep the other side because all the stuff will go under solar panels and then it just gets complicated.

11pm and my AC in my donga decided to have a cry. At 1am it had a full traumatic experience and wept a lot. Not what I want when my head is under it.

And someone just set the fire alarm off out here. It's ok, someone else is checking. No urgent yells currently.

I had a frog in my bathroom! Been a long time since I've had one.

Apparently the baby quendas are out and hopping about. I have demanded photos.

I am always amused that a band remixed the ABC (Australia) news theme into a dance track. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iys... The footage of it being played at clubs and things makes me want to go out, but I'd probably complain about the noise after 10 minutes.

Well, made it to the morning. Most of the cyclone remnant have passed. It's been weird for a cyclone. Almost no wind and just a steady drip, drip, drip. Were at about 14mm in the past 12hrs. Some other areas though are a lot damper.

It's started to rain! The forecast had this happening over 12hrs ago. This has been a very weird cyclone, just hope crosses the coast soon, don't want it to keep coming down the coast.

I was right. Baby quenda are called joeys. Apparently anything that goes in a pouch is a joey.

An update for those who saw the last post. Apparently the quenda babies are out of the pouch. I have no idea what baby quendas are called? Joeys? I am waiting for photos.

My parents have a quenda (aka bandicoot) that comes and visits. She's rather pregnant. Well, we assume they're in the pouch, so post-pregnant? I was hoping to see her one morning with them all following, but no luck.

Ahh. The joys of lush green Western Australia in February...

I did a preliminary quick hunt this morning for mouse entry points. The previous spot is still sealed as are the usual ones (around pipes, drains, etc) Looks like I'm hunting later tonight. Argh! Why me?

I am looking at the forecast for home for the next week and thinking "it's just wrong" I'm glad I'm not there currently, but its going to be bad enough when I Get home.

ARGH!!!!!! The one document that might have the answer I'm after is on the Schneider/APC web page. The search summary looks good. The site is under maintenance. I just want to see a sample script to see if my idea will work. You're a big company, you shouldn't loose a site for maintenance.

Good news everybody. It got down to 22C last night for about an hour. It's already at 30C by 7:30. I think today is the last day of the wave. I hope it is.
