Watching my high school page Juliana Hong (of Norman North…Go Wolves!) ask questions during “Pageville”, where all the high school pages for the week pick bills and question/debate them, on the actual House floor. Love this opportunity for Juliana and all the other students! 😊

Hate saying a kid is “behind.” Behind who? Peers with different traumas or parental support? Early childhood experts say stop rushing childhood! Let kids play, move (recess & PE), and get academic & mental health support. Nurture the whole child and those test scores will follow…promise!!

The Legislature punting oversight on the Walters-tainted Social Studies standards last sesh was a huge frustration for me. Bipartisan support to disapprove existed, but no action = they went into effect. HB 2987 closes a loophole: If no action is taken, standards are auto DISAPPROVED, not approved.

Big news out of OKC, as community members & elected leaders loudly opposed a proposed ICE detention facility (located next to many public schools, including Western Heights, which has a large Hispanic population)! This is what democracy looks like (w/ an assist from a responsive mayor!), y’all! 👏👏👏
