Canada is releasing a set of stamps celebrating the nation's graphic novelists. These stamps feature Kate Beaton, Jimmy Beaulieu, Guy Delisle, Julie Doucet, Bryan Lee O’Malley and Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, alongside some of their famous works.

I assume the idea of Marvel publishing licensed comics is to broaden the scope of their publishing range with properties that have pre-existing audiences. So to default to crossovers with company-owned characters seems incredibly lazy, almost creatively bankrupt

I need to start watching Ultraman again. he last series I was fully invested in was Ultraman Z. I watched a few episodes of Trigger but apart from a killer open song, it wasn't my jam.

That's impressive for Marvel, who have a track record of running concepts well past their use-by date.

Comics media need to find a better balance at catering for the reader's tastes and being tastemakers.

Creators should stop using the term "OC" when talking about their characters and creations. It's an insular term that does a disservice to your creations.

Marvel have been too reliant on retreading the past/nostalgia for the last 5-7 years. They're going to run out of things to mine soon and be stuck with nothing but go back to well do the same stuff over and over again with diminishing results.

Remind me to write some shorter posts on the site. Too many posts have felt like a marathon lately.

Just saw Superman and really enjoyed it. I loved how it leaned into the comics and there were some great performances.

An undergrad student of mine has lived in the UK for a short period as a teen and was made to understand that, "wank," meant nap. Went home. Found out this is not the whole truth. Very much wanted to burn down a small part of the UK.

It's also a period when Superman had a sweet mullet.
