Daily sketch: DRACULA! Finally getting back to the Universal Monsters pin-up series I started a while ago. Today’s sketch is a thumbnail study for the layout.

GODZILLA! I’m getting a lot of mileage out of these blue markers.

CONSTANTINE! 9x12 con size. Playing around again with a color hold with no black outline for the background, framing the figure too.

IT’S COMING! NEW YORK COMIC CON. I’ll be in artist Alley as usual. Beside the regular art, all the color pieces I’ve been posting will be available. And for the first time, I’ll be offering color commissions along with the B&W. Anybody wanting to arrange a sketch before, [email protected]

BATMAN! 9x12 color based on the B&W daily sketch posted previously. I wanted to see how the markers held in the background as a flat color with no black outline. I think it reads well.

Daily sketch: STORM! As much as I disliked the mohawk look when it first appeared, all these years later, it’s fun to draw.

Daily sketch: HAWKEYE! Another study for a potential larger color piece. I’ve never done Hawkeye’s more contemporary costume. And I also wanted to push the extreme pose, something I don’t do enough of.

Daily sketch: BATMAN! And a few friends. Don’t have access to my markers for a couple days, so it’s back to black-and-white for the daily sketch. Thinking about doing this as a larger color piece too.

Daily sketch: MR FREEZE! 🥶 Since starting with the colored markers, I wanted to do a sketch of him. Main experiment was to see how the dome helmet would carry with no black outline.

Daily sketch: SILVER SURFER! On the road today, so only time for a really quick one. This is a little color study for maybe a larger color piece. I want to do something with some really bright colors in it like that purple.

GALAXYCON: COLOSSUS! One leftover head sketch from the show. The collector wanted an X-MEN character infected by the BROOD.

GALAXYCON DES MOINES: HOWARD THE DUCK! Addressing the age old question: Pants or no pants? I’m firmly in the NO PANTS FOR HOWARD camp. How about you?

Morning sketch CASTING CALL: MARTY FELDMAN is THE JOKER! A fun one. And I realize I’m up against an age cut off for people who will even know/remember who Marty Feldman is.

Morning sketch: GHOST RIDER! The second one is the same just flipped. I wasn’t sure which direction felt the speed stronger.

JOKER! Fun with color. 9x12 con-head sketch size.

Morning sketch: DOCTOR STRANGE! I’m not abandoning black-and-white sketches. This one I wanted to try a really extreme light angle with the EYE OF.AGAMOTTO being the source.

MAGIK! 9x12, like I plan on offering at conventions. You might recognize this as based on an earlier daily sketch. While it’s color, I wanted to keep the almost flat black graphic of her costume.

COLOSSUS! Still seeing what I can do with these new markers. This is actually larger than the daily sketch; 9x12 like convention sketch size, with an eye towards offering color commissions at cons.

Morning sketch: THE THING. I figure I’ve done enough B&W warmups; maybe work on color (& grayscale) with an eye to doing color full commissions. Bought a set of markers. Haven’t worked in them before so I’m expecting a bit of a learning curve. Here’s the first.

Morning sketch: decided to finish off THE AVENGERS! Squeezed in WONDER MAN, MS MARVEL, HELLCAT, FALCON, CAPT MARVEL/PHOTON, TIGRA & STAR FOX. Got real tight; thank God I had room for STAR FOX!

At-home commission: JAKITA WAGNER from PLANETARY! I think she has anger issues.

THE SPIRIT! Full at-home commission. It’s always interesting to merge that Eisner cartoony style with my own.

CAPTAIN BOOMERANG! Yes, Captain Boomerang. Another at-home commander in the can.

THUNDERBIRD! Finishing up some at-home commissions. Decided to depict him in his final moments from X-Men 94.
