I needed to get a prototype store quadruped moving asap. I rigged it with spine/tail, but legs are 1-joint nubs. I plant its feet by scaling the nub between hip/shoulder and the floor (distanceBetween+remapValue). Animation leans hard on reParent and broDynamics! It's silly, fun nonsense. #gamedev

Also, eggs poached longer taste better. It's like how waiting until the last moment before leaping out of the path of a commuter train makes you feel more alive than if you just stayed home.

I successfully poached four eggs at times from 2 to 3 1/2 minutes. Life goal reached! Time to walk into the sea! I think the trick is to bring the water to a proper boil, then drop in the eggs while simultaneously reducing the heat. The eggs cool the water too much to wait to add them at a simmer.

No pic, but my stepfather's friend kept a TR7 in our garage for years. I coveted it and snuck frequent peeks under the tarp. One day the friend retrieved his car and I never saw it again. When I had some money, the closest I could get to the TR7 was a Fiat X1/9. It was a terrible car but very fun.

I had a chat with my gameplay guy about root motion vs. in place. We're sorted, but I wonder why I think of "in place" as centered on XZ, while what happens in Y (in Y-up) is irrelevant. My engineer thinks of vertical movement in the anim asset as constituting root motion as well. #techart #gamedev
