A great night is taking out a bunch of movies you like and just jumping around watching scenes you enjoy, like shuffling through favorite songs. Often I notice aspects of the filmmaking I’ve never noticed before. Most often, I just jam.

If filmmakers are going to keep using “Everything In It’s Right Place” in their movies I’m going to need someone to set a whole movie to Kid A so I can hear the whole album that loud at that level of fidelity.

I don’t know what the rest of the list is but two of my favorite vocal performances are Michael Keaton as “Porco Rosso” and Jake Johnson as “Peter B. Parker.”

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN was my son's first "movie about movies" movie. I think it connected a lot of dots in his brain. At bedtime he was asking me production-related questions – costumes, primarily – about THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, and he wants to watch a making-of featurette tomorrow.
