Another game I tried at MWGF was Fleet Command Hevelius www.fleetcommandhevelius.com It's a fun little, miniature agnostic fleet battle game. Since the loss of Star Wars Armada,ore and more of these games are coming into the space, and this is a fun, well put together entry.

Another fun game I got to try for the first time at MWGF, the Lord of the Rings Trick Taking Game boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/42... If you're a long-time Spades player, it's very similar but the goal is for all the players playing to make their tricks goal. Win or fail as a group! Very fun!

Another of the games I tried at MWGF was Kokeshi boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/41... It's an awesome little game of building chains of actions so you can push your cute little meeples across the board. Fun little engine builder with a great theme!

The other wargame I tried out at MWGF was Halo : Flashpoint from Mantic Games haloflashpoint.manticgames.com Based on their semi-popular Deadzone Skirmish game and with all the Halo goodness you XBox players have come to know and love. I still don't know why Mantic games are less popular than GW's.

Also played at MWGF, an engine-building card game, Reforest firestarter.games/products/ref... This game is a lot deeper than just a single hour of play allows, but I liked what I saw. Even better, the game fully uses actual botanical facts. Very cool game.

Another game I tried at MWGF (I'll get through them all eventually) was Konflikt '47 by Warlord Games - us.warlordgames.com/collections/... Super fun, easy to pick up, and I love the esthetic of Weird War 2 super-science and fantasy. Big stompy robots fighting werewolves and zombies. Fun!

Played Dragonhoard at Midwest Gamefest, a board game that is in development and nearing release on Kickstarter (www.kickstarter.com/projects/178...). I had fun playing it, found it a mix of Ticket to Ride and Lords of Waterdeep. Going to follow it and back it when it comes out. Fun game!

Had a great time this past weekend at Midwest Gamefest (midwestgamefest.org) in Kansas City. Which is why I didn't post about until now, still recovering. Fantastic convention, I highly recommend it!

Happy Birthday to me! The big 5-0. Feh. I feel like I did 20 years ago... except for all the joint pain and carrying too much weight. Not really sure how I feel about it, other than I got to see family and had some really good BBQ. Nothing deep, just thought getting "old" would feel different.

Got to demo Hot Streak over the weekend (here's a random review so you know what I'm talking about youtu.be/UqcuhxtyZ5U). Super fun little game, not hard at all to pick up what is going on, and the best fun is during the "race" where you root for your bets to win (or lose) and enjoy the chaos.

If you take sandwiches to work, do yourself a favor and get a Tupperware Sandwich Keeper (www.tupperware.com/products/san...). Much better than other options out there. So mad it took me this long to find them, but glad I did.

A follow-on to my last post - if the astrophage hit us today, we wouldn't die in 30 years to the temperature change. We'd kill each other in 10 years and never cooperate the way it happened in the movie. And at least 3 countries (including the US) would weaponize the astrophage while doing it.

Watched Project Hail Mary last night, and I enjoyed it. If you like The Martian, you'll like this one too.

If you are a Godzilla fan and have not seen Shin Godzilla from 2016 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Go...), do yourself a favor and watch it. It is by far the WEIRDEST Godzilla movie I have ever seen, as it's 75% action shots of bureaucracy (yes, action shots) trying to solve the Gojira problem.
