What do you define as “fake” guitar playing? In a studio environment we know everything is going to be stacked, edited and modulated. Music videos will often be mimed. Social media? Is it dishonest to use recorded audio to a synced video? Live? Should be live right?

Some rando coming up and offering advice after a gig is irritating. A musician who isn’t open to any form of constructive criticism is also irritating. The middle path is a musician who can end conversations quickly with those who offer unsolicited advice and seeks advice from those they admire.

I’m prone to getting lost in thought. Being able to intellectualize the world makes my monkey mind happy. In the past 5 years what I strive for is putting my knowledge into practice.

An event like the Olympics wouldn’t work for musicians. There isn’t a definitive “best”. There could be different skill tests but those would be parlor tricks.

More rain for Southern California expected next week. It was pouring last night. I have the instrumental laid down for a new song I’m working on. Did the voice lead arrangement last night. I still need to record vocals and I’ll probably redo a few of the rhythm sections on guitar.

I love the pageantry of musicians stage personas. I’ve always had a strong internal sense of style and have no problem glamming it up when the situation calls for it.

I was listening to a lot of Nujabes and chill lo-fi beats during this period of my music making journey.

Didn’t get to watch the Super Bowl yesterday but I did watch the performances today and was impressed. Bad Bunny and his messages of unity are powerful.

I remember using a lot of loops and royalty free sounds on this instrumental. It sounds like I played bass on it too.

Made some new music and got the skeleton of a song worked out. It’s always interesting hearing the lifecycle of a song from inception to recorded + mastered.

As I’ve gotten older I have learned to accept musical comparison compliments, especially from non musicians. When someone says “your music sounds like blank _____” there isn’t a single artist I’d take as a personal insult.

I’m into music history and musicology. I love learning how a song was born. It’s fun for me to take a random song and look up everyone who worked on it and then go and research who influenced all of those people.

My first instrument was the electric bass. My mom told me I needed discipline and my option was an instrument or martial arts.

This is my thinline style guitar. I took a gamble on this one. Bought it off a thrift retail website that no longer exists for $75 + $15 of hardware + the fender noiseless pickup(traded another guitarist) The fretboard is just foil stickers. Sanded off the Glarry logo and refinished the neck.
