It may be my own personal growth speaking but I’m really enjoying treating music as collaborative rather than competitive. Every project feels much more rewarding when its success is shared with others.

I’m pleasantly surprised to be chomping on some late night sour skittles that aren’t stale! I feel like skittles is a candy I’ve eaten stale more often than not.

In addition to this what happened to golden oldies. I still want to hear some Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, The Drifters, Chuck Berry, at this point I’ll even take some early Rolling Stones. I’m only 31!

Be authentic is terrible advice for musicians. The industry figured out the authenticity equation years ago. My alternative advice is find something within yourself that is so unique that it can’t easily be replicated by anyone.

This self-taught producer made a risky move from Jacksonville to Atlanta. Now, he’s making hits with top rap artists
Dwayne Richardson II grew up in Jacksonville making beats on a computer, posting them on MySpace and selling them for about $100 to neighborhood rappers.

I saw Mastodon once. Eagles of Death Metal opened for them. It was in a venue that felt like a gymnasium. Glad to read they’re back making music. RIP to Brent Hinds.

It's been nearly a year since former Mastodon's Brent Hinds was killed in a car crash, and the band's new song honors his memory.

I remember recording guitar for this instrumental. I’m not sure if the drums are sampled/programmed/beat pad etc. The weird sparkly effect could be a soft synth or a sample.

I had just got a cheap Glarry guitar and wanted to record something before I setup the guitar. This is a $75 guitar unmodified on this track.

When did people start trashing pentatonic scales? I know that the heavy bends and sticking in the Am box is a bit of a bore but I don’t think that 5 note scales should be thrown away in the name of complexity.

Are you able to imitate other musicians? Whenever I get a “you sound like ____ comment” very rarely is it someone I was intentionally trying to sound like.

I appreciate the community of musicians on this platform. You have made me so much more confident in my creative abilities and I rarely get hate comments on here. There needs to be more spaces for creative people to make mistakes and grow as artists.

Modern musicians do all this work on promotion but don’t bother coming up with any lore. I need mystery and maybe even a touch of danger.

The Mandalorian and Grogu was unexpectedly awesome. Saw it in IMAX at the TCL Chinese theater in Hollywood. I was nervous because the theater was practically empty but my spouse and I were engaged for the full two hours. Jeremy Allen White as a hutt wasn’t nearly as strange as it sounds!

As I get older my arrangements and mixes become more refined and minimalist. At this rate I predict I’ll get a hit song down to 4 notes and 3 seconds by the time I’m old.
