by the end of the year, this is stilly song of the year for 2024. perfectly tasteful, perfectly drammatic, both has warm human, almost familiar element with yacthys trembling vocals and this cold vast beauty of james blake production. undefeated song for me.

this is like damn 2, kendrick is angry at the world again. it has more interesting sound and more catchy hooks but also it feels more aimless and undercooked than damn. a little underwhelming, honestly. it doesn't feel like a big chapter in kendricks discography, but it also treats itself as one.

feeling a little conflicted about this album. not because I don't like it, but because the brevity and energy of KOTMS2 was one of its strongest sides in my opinion. on the other side, addition of a little more melodic cuts and a couple bangers is welcome. its not as perfect but damn. zel got it.

cordae for me is like less corny, slightly more preachy and slightly more derivative logic, and this album reinforces that belief of mine in a surprisingly positive way. it is a well crafted decent album, with enough introspection to keep me invested and not enough to get me stunned

my tidal account bricked and I've been listening to LP and Sound of Silver for the past week. not that I'm complaining, since both have insane energy

the freddie gibbs record is great, but it lacks the sauce that makes his collab albums great - im not just talking about our production but structure and pacing. it feels like a pack of damn good throwaways without the main course.

people say ea2 was a massive disappointment, and they're right. but this is also a big letdown for me. can we get an ambitious and refreshing grisleda album for once? we've been subjected to youngboy ass release schedule for albums that are merely passable for 2 years now.

i think its a great quality phil has where his three most ambitious efforts sound similar, rethread similar points, but offer enough perspective, personality and structure to be distinctly different, like sibling albums

this album is stunning, almost impossible to describe. the only thing i can say so far is that i liked it, a lot. it definently seems like phils biggest statement since the early 2000's.

on a few more relistens, i gave grown to appreciate the albums more abrasive moments more, though i am still positive this is a messy album that loses grasp on its concept out the gate. i think it is pretty great, but doesn't exceed sum of its parts.

is there anything on chromakopia on that level? i honestly don't think so, not even close.

difficult album to wrap my head around on first impression. it's so fucking messy, and often time it makes the album in one bit rant. but also it has so many incredible moments. a lot of attempts to make smooth more soul elements abrasive didn't really land with me. its a solid album though.

there are 3 types of amazing albums: very complex albums that sound very complex, very effortless albums that sound effortless, and very complex albums that sound effortless. forever story is the perfect example of the latter - it sounds like he doesn't even break a sweat.

am i the only one who thinks that tyler raps just like kendrick lamar on the new snippet? like im deadass for me it just sounds like all the flows were taking from some non existent kendrick track.

and this, ladies and gentlemen (and other distinguished people) is how you build and release tension in a song. an absolute effortless masterpiece.

this is their best song btw. perfectly drammatic, well produced, passionately written and executed. a pop ballad masteeclass.

this is the coolest horny album in history. sounds expensive in the best way, groovy in the best way and passionate in the best way. my only issue with it is a couple detours from that energy we get here.

i hate that tidal considers 'nightcore' version of american dream the default one. regardless, it's a supremely average album, and I doubt it's getting better for 21 savage.

the new tyler the creator song is decent. i feel like sonically he just threw everything he can into the mix, and it turns out fine, because all the sounds going into it are great. i like the refrains, i like the narrative built through the song, even though it's a little shallow.

what better way to get into anticipation for chromakopia than to listen to tyler's best song yet. everything is set up here to work just right - from rising, but never not warm and intimate instrumentation, to one big verse lyricism... true art

there's so much energy, creativity and love for life in bjorks music, yet it is executed with such educated precision that it almost never gets annoying or overwhelming. truly an all time greatest artist.

in anticipation for eusexua, i've been listening to fka twigs a lot. this song in particular stuns me every time - such a beautifully arranged an passionately performed ambitious statement on femininity and sexuality. this is all time level of greatness.

its insane how so many big name big budget artists struggle to get anything interesting for their ambitious albums, while death grips just effortlessly jampacked an album worth of ideas into this small 20 minute ep.
