I had such a great time being a guest on the Executive Function Podcast with Sarah Kesty. We talked about many of my favorite topics - ADHD, executive functioning, anxiety, and what’s really going on beneath the surface for kids and adults who are “doing fine” but working hard to keep it together.

This brings back my nightmare of moving to KS with an infant after residency. I couldn't find a spot in any daycare center, so found a home daycare that was in my neighborhood and seemed like a great place - until little clues popped up that there were problems. It was 9 months until a spot opened.

I just got ANOTHER warning from a pharmacy warning me that a patient has a diagnosis of anxiety and the stimulant may worsen anxiety. Yes, I know this. But I also know that NOT treating ADHD leads to anxiety. I worry these warnings may stop prescribers from appropriate management. Anyone else?

Only high-risk individuals should get the rotavirus, COVID-19, influenza, meningococcal disease, hepatitis A, and hepatitis B vaccines according to our HHS. I used to admit at least 5 kids a year due to dehydration from rotavirus. None since the vaccine started. All kids are at risk.

I've seen so many kids this season with flu - thankfully none among the deaths so far this year. Most of the sickest aren't vaccinated. Either they usually get vaccinated but didn't get around to it this year or they never get the flu vaccine because they thought flu was just a cold. It's not.

There are many ways to learn about vaccines and their risks. It's harder and harder to tell if the source is reliable, especially since the HHS is headed by an anti-science and anti-vax lawyer.

I just learned that bomb threats were called to Catholic schools across Kansas today. They appear to be a hoax, but kids are starting their Christmas vacation in fear. How did we get here?

Who are the people in charge? How can they live with themselves? These are children.

Teens today are flooded with “quick fixes” and miracle supplements. Many of these are unregulated and unsafe. Parents must know what things are tempting their teens and keep communication lines open. Connection and guidance will help them learn to navigate safer online. 1/2

We tried a risk-based vaccination strategy before and it failed. Half of the babies who were infected with Hepatitis B did not get it from their mother at birth. www.aap.org/en/news-room...

ACIP voted 6-4 (1 abstaining) to recommend testing children's antibody levels after each hepatitis B shot to determine whether additional shots are needed. This adds to the cost and the number of injections since combo vaccines can't be used if positive, and has not been proven to be effective. 😡
