I've been on a week-long Edward G Robinson binge and just watched the underrated film noir #TheGlassWeb (1953, Jack Arnold) co-starring John Forsythe. I'd never heard of this before, but it's a thrilling ride with a fun concept. A murder mystery set behind the scenes of a 50's true crime TV show!

"Hi ya, Front Page!" I loved revisiting #TheWholeTownsTalking (1935, John Ford) on the Criterion Channel tonight. I have a soft spot for Edward G. Robinson's comedic gangster films. He had impeccable timing, beyond being a great dramatic actor. I feel like people tend to underrate him. #FilmSky

I just watched Jane Fonda's last film before a 15 year hiatus - #Stanley&Iris (1990) with Robert De Niro. The final film of legendary director Martin Ritt, the story is saccharine and overly sentimental but I also found it incredibly touching. Great performances from both Fonda and De Niro.

#ThePassionateFriends (1949) isn't quite as well-known as David Lean's other romantic melodrama "Brief Encounter"- but I think it's equally deserving of attention. It's rare to see a film explore the fear of love causing one to lose their independence. It's both beautiful and heartbreaking. #FilmSky

#Obsession (2026, Curry Baker) has a great concept and script - but Inde Navarrette's performance is why this film has been a success. Her ability to subtly alter her expressions and convey the ever changing emotions of Nikki is incredible. One of the best performances you'll see in 2026. #FilmSky

The way Sam Levinson fumbled the downfall of Nate Jacobs on #Euphoria needs to be studied. One of the most hated television characters in recent memory and he somehow made his demise feel...uninteresting and unsatisfying. Truly impressive. A masterclass in how not to write a television death arc.

I watched #BladeRunner (1982, Ridley Scott) for the first time. It'll take me awhile to collect my thoughts, but the two things that resonated most with me were Rutger Hauer's performance and the power of the film's cinematography and production design. Just a visually breathtaking film. #FilmSky

#Sapphire (1959, Basil Dearden) is a fascinating time capsule. It's genuinely mind-blowing that a film, whose primary purpose is to provide an honest and bold assessment of race and prejudice, was made (and was successful) in 1959. While obviously not perfect, it's definitely worth a watch. #FilmSky

My first time watching #LostinTranslation (2003, Sofia Coppola) 🩷 It left me in tears. Beautiful, poetic, romantic, life affirming and bittersweet. The chemistry between Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson was incredible and unexpected. A film I can't wait to revisit. It captured my heart. #FilmSky

#Snowpiercer (2013, 설국열차 ) is INCREDIBLE. I've been watching Bong Joon Ho's filmography and am blown away by his ability to craft such ambitious (yet timely) message-driven stories with both gravitas and an almost absurdist humor. His filmmaking style is uniquely his own and I am always left in awe.

Just watched #ArtistsandModels (1937, Raoul Walsh) and was greatly disappointed. It's very disjointed - a strange collection of unrelated comedy sketches and music numbers, tied together by a paper thin plot. Jack Benny and Ida Lupino do a good job with the very little they're given. #FilmSky

#IntheMoodforLove (2000, Wong Kar-Wai) is a striking, vibrant, beautiful masterpiece that completely took my breath away. I've never seen anything quite like it. The editing and narrative construction of the film is exquisite, not to mention the production design and costuming. Excellent. #FilmSky

#AFewGoodMen (1992, Rob Reiner) has been on my watchlist for a long time and it absolutely blew me away! Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson have incredible chemistry. Their dynamic ties this film together in the final act and creates an ALL-TIME ending. This film absolutely lives up to the hype. #FilmSky

Just watched #TheDrama (2026, Kristoffer Borgli) and while I thought the (daring) premise was well executed, it felt like a lot was left on the table. For example, the fact that Emma's race is never factored into her story feels incredibly problematic within this context. An "almost" film for me.

I can’t believe the #TCMFF is over. This has been a dream of mine for the last decade and it was an experience I’ll never forget. So much joy, laughter and tears. Today I watched The Bad News Bears, Trouble in Paradise, Rope, Arabesque and Out of the Past. An incredible end to an incredible 4 days.

I’d never seen The Bad News Bears (1976, Michael Ritchie) before - and what a perfect way to experience it for the very first time! An incredible film that I loved seeing with an audience. Perhaps my favorite screening from the festival (so far). #TCMFF

Today I saw A Place in the Sun, Swing Time, The Misfits, Mr Smith Goes to Washington and Notorious. All films I’ve seen before and LOVE (for different reasons) - but never seen on the big screen. It was heaven. Sharon Stone’s intro of The Misfits was EVERYTHING. #TCMFF

Seeing “A Place in the Sun” for the first time on the big screen (introduced by George Stevens Jr) was unbelievably surreal. If I hadn’t seen this film at 20 years of age, I very likely wouldn’t be at the #TCMFF today. It’s cliche - but this film and Montgomery Clift changed my life forever.

Had an amazing first (official) day of my first #TCMFF. I saw The Magnificent Seven, Letty Lynton, Dangerous Liaisons and Ace in the Hole. I had planned to see Shane, but I’m going to prioritize sleep ahead of my holy grail festival day tomorrow. Highlights of today: Letty Lynton and Glenn Close.

Letty Lynton will likely go down as one of my favorite movie watching experiences EVER. Surreal to experience a film, with likeminded people, for the first time in 90 years. #TCMFF

"I loved him. I loved him. I loved him. But was I in love with him?" I just watched #Saltburn (2023, Emerald Fennell). Definitely one of my favourite films I've seen this year. Strange, intoxicating, delirious, sensual, hypnotic and bizarre. A filmic experience unlike any other. I won't forget it.

Currently enjoying my annual Marilyn Monroe deep dive. Biographies, articles, documentaries, interviews. I've fallen down the rabbit hole hard. What a fascinating, tragic, beautiful person she was. As someone who suffers from depression, I find her story both inspiring and incredibly compelling.

I can't stop thinking about #ProjectHailMary using the 1950's Leo the Lion MGM logo. It made me feel a certain way.

"Never mistake my kindness for weakness" I can't recommend #SendHelp (2026, Sam Raimi) highly enough. Such a fun ride! Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien are perfectly cast in this superb survivalist thriller/dark comedy. Lots of fun twists and turns throughout. One of the best movies of 2026 so far!

"Did you know that elephants mate only once every seven years?" I finally watched the film debut of Jane Fonda, #TallStory (1960, Joshua Logan). It's far from a perfect film, with a miscast Anthony Perkins as the leading man. But Jane Fonda shines and shows glimpses of the star she would become.

I just watched #Avanti (1972, Billy Wilder) and I don't know how to feel. Doubtless I would've considered it a favorite - if only it hadn't tried to gaslight me for 150 minutes. Juliet Mills is NOT overweight nor is she ugly - a truly insane (and repetitive) plot point in an otherwise charming film.

I just watched #Solaris (1972, Andrei Tarkovsky) for the first time. It's going to take me a long time to fully process what I just watched. A beautiful, poetic, surrealist meditation on love, memory and grief, "masquerading" as a science-fiction epic. It's a truly incredible filmmaking feat.

That soul crushing moment when you're called into work on your day off. It's like the floor has suddenly disappeared beneath your feet.

#ButterfliesareFree (1972, Milton Katselas) stole my heart 🦋 Wow. It completely took me by surprise. The story and performances by Goldie Hawn, Edward Arnold and Eileen Heckart are absolutely beautiful - it's hard not to fall in love with these characters. A fantastic film I wish more people knew.

"You're just walkin' around to save funeral expenses" #TheElectricHorseman (1979, Sydney Pollack) really surprised me. It's such a beautiful story, with a truly great ending. Jane Fonda and Robert Redford are "electric" (pardon the pun) together. An underrated entry in both their filmographies.
