Dad, software developer, knife enthusiast, tinkerer, maker of things.
The Github hack is ironic to me since I left Github for Gitlab because of their militant 2fa BS. Clearly it didn’t make their platform any more secure.

After more effort than I initially anticipated, I completed the package manager for my pet project Aussom-Lang. It ships with the latest Aussom CLI desktop installer.

Aussom-Lang now has support for JavaFX, GTK4, a Java native interface with dynamic Jar loading, and native library interface via Panama. Quite a bit that can be done with it now.

Crypto isn’t useful for what it was created for and little else, AI is a big joke and 99% hype. Can we get away from these wastes of time/money/energy/environment and get back to the regular work of solving business problems and incremental improvement.

Giving access to SSNs, other data on government employees to non-employees like Musk is a violation of 5 USC 552a, and carries with it a penalty of $1000 per person whose data was accessed. CALL YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL, YOUR SENATORS & CONGRESSPEOPLE. ASK THE ACLU TO FORM A CLASS ACTION SUIT.

Like 98% compute/bandwidth is bare metal. The cloud is great for small projects (costs are low) and highly profitable projects (costs matter less). But it fails projects that need to scale as efficiently as possible. Moving Bluesky to bare metal reduced costs by 10-100x and saved many millions.

If you are not sure what is happening in your Apache Maven build, then run the following command to find out: mvn buildplan:list-phase You will get a nice list of plugins/goals and in which phase they are running.
