Early modern spelling is never not fun.

I knew that starting a new paper for the first time since October would be hard going, but I didn’t think it would be *this* hard going.

At the end of the day, it’s just me and the article about Hamlet I’ve been saying I’m working on for 14 months now.

I know rejection is a part of my chosen field & I’ll develop a tougher skin. But I must say I’m not feeling particularly tough right now…

Look, the other PGRs might be judging me for bringing an electric heating pad into the office. But I am happy.

One thing they don’t tell you about university lecturing is just how awkward you’ll feel standing in the hallway waiting for a room to be free while all of the students gossip about their week.

I was speaking to a non-academic friend about the projects I’m working on at the moment. Halfway through my rant, she smiled & said ‘I thought you said you’d never write about sword scenes again after the thesis’. Should’ve known that was a lie. Anyway. Back on the sword train.

Dreamt I was giving a lecture last night & all the slides kept changing to other lectures/presentations while I scrambled around to make sense of the through line.

It’s approaching the 1 year anniversary of my thesis submission and I feel such a strange mix of emotions. I think the submission acceptance email should come with a disclaimer - “you will feel weird about this soon.”
