My quick RE tier list, updating for post RE9 thoughts. I feel weird putting 7 that high, since I don't even like it that much. But... I respect it. Especially with how they did so much creative and WEIRD stuff with the DLC. I don't feel weird about liking 3make though, that game's cool.

I downloaded Marathon to try it for the free week, and it's funny how even if all the Bungie branding was stripped out, I would still know it's made by the same people as Destiny 2: you get a short tutorial followed by 18 pages of menus and explanations of menus, and then you're dumped on your ass

Wolverine looks... surprisingly unimpressive? I guess it's hard to match how fun it is to swing around as Spider-Man, cause the action looks incredibly standard. Also, even as a comic appreciator, I've never liked how Wolvie's costume looks in 3D adaptations, and this is definitely no exception.

Yacht Club made it clear that Mina the Hollower is make-or-break for them, so I'm getting worried about these mid reviews. Especially the ones that say it's another poor copy of the Souls formula. I didn't even like that Souls stuff in Hollow Knight, so if Mina is even Hollower, that's a problem.

Finished Vagrant Story, and it's shot to the top of my (very short) list of games which I think need a remake. Dynamic weapons the PSX ram couldn't handle. Complex world with a terrible map system. Intriguing plot with critical details only in the Japanese guidebook. Mediocre, full of potential.

The Lanterns trailer looks pretty good, but I would like to see a series inspired by Grant Morrison's run. Specifically, the part where a team of emotionless lanterns handles the galaxy's most traumatizing jobs in order to save on trauma counseling, but one member actually *does* have emotions.

Started a SL1 run of Dark Souls Fought the very first Balder knight, got the Baller Swag Sword, and was like "ha ha isn't that funny, got this rare drop and can't use it" Then I ALSO GOT THE FUCKING BKH

Started Ace Combat Zero, and it's amazing how consistent AC is with its mission design strategy. It's like... Basic air-to-air mission. Anti-ground mission. Gimmick mission. Hardest fucking mission you've ever played in your life with 3 phases and a boss ambush. ...easy pick-your-target mission.

Had a whim to replay Star Fox 64, and wowie wow I forgot how much I *adore* this game and this franchise. It has minor flaws, but it's BURSTING with personality and creativity within a focused design scope. My next commission has gotta be a Star Fox 2 style portrait with a character I design.

A few hours into Shin Megami Tensei 5, and I'm definitely impressed by the variety of the mechanics on offer. However, this afternoon, I got bored after an hour of playing it, and started teaching myself how to use CAD software instead, which doesn't bode well for my chances of finishing it.

Just 100% completed TR-49, which has a very interesting style for a deductive game. However, it has essentially no deduction, and is more of an exercise in monotony/repetition than in critical thought. Very surprised to see it has a 95% rating on steam, I would give it a hard pass.

Trolls in games are so prevalent that they practically make up the majority of certain communities... but meanwhile, I got an invite for Deadlock, and am too scared to actually play, since I'm afraid I'll ruin someone's game by being bad. The style and tutorial sandbox features are nice though.

First impression (8 hours) of Nioh 3 is that it's nice. Which, for a Nioh game, is kinda worrying. The relentless pace of its challenges has been its identity since Nioh 1. On the other hand, Nioh 1/2 were kinda exhausting, and this still has better structure than Elden Ring... so I give it a pass.

It drives me crazy when you get an amazing comic run, but then its plot becomes incomprehensible thanks to tie-ins to other series, to leverage its popularity. Johns' Green Lantern crossed 3 series at one time, and now I see Cates' Venom crossed with 2 back to back. Just tell one story please.

A lot of the time I'll read popular runs like Batman Hush or Long Halloween, and find them just sorta boringly agreeable. But I just started Cates' run of Venom, and it really is the coolest shit. I'm noticing that between Venom, Ghost Rider, and Hulk, that shared-psyche characters are my jam.

Two hours into Silent Hill F, which in the rest of my life I'll only call "Silent Hilf", and it's ok. Combat isn't as bad as I expected, though the complaining I've heard makes me want to append "yet" to that statement. Still not hooked by the story though, when 1-4 all did that pretty quickly.

The new Bretonnian team in Blood Bowl sounds really fun, with throwers and catchers having nerves of steel. I always loved the passing game, but it felt like you had to either play (legacy) high elves or (8 armor) pro elves to make it work. Might just pick up this team and finally try painting.

RE2 got a remake before RE1, but (my favorite) RE1 already had the 2002 remake, so that's fine. Then Silent Hill 2 got remade before 1, which kinda makes sense, but it's sad for someone who likes 1 more. Now, Fatal Frame 2 is being remade before 1, and I prefer 1. Something something three nickels.
