☠️ The “lethal dose” test was first introduced in 1927 to determine the amount of a chemical or substance that kills 50% of a group of animals. It is still in use despite progress in animal-free science. As the #EU prepares to update its chemicals law, REACH, we can end LD tests for good.

A new report shows that the #fur industry not only causes immense animal suffering but it’s also contributing negatively to the #EU economy. The sector has seen fur sales collapse by 92% in the past decade and now relies on public subsidies to survive.

The Supreme Administrative Court of #Bulgaria has upheld a Ministerial Order from 2022 banning the breeding and import of American #mink. The order was challenged by the country’s only mink farm which ceased operations earlier this year. Bulgaria is now free of fur farms. #FurFreeEurope

In 2023, supporters helped gather over 1.2 mil signatures for a European Citizens’ Initiative asking @ec.europa.eu to stop using data from new #animaltests to ensure cosmetic safety, and put in place concrete steps to prioritise the development of non-animal methods to modernise science in the #EU.

As part of “Io non combatto – I don’t fight” project, together with Fondazione CAVE CANEM we organised a discussion at the Police School in Nettuno in Rome on the protection of victims of #dogfighting. 30 #police officers took part to boost coordination & tools against this brutal crime in #Italy.
