I've been a bit in disbelief recently on our industry: we've never had hardware that fast & cheap, and rather than making our programs more efficient to make them fast with lower resources, we started shipping code that take orders of magnitude more CPU cycles to perform the exact same tasks.

from *very scientific* assessment considering the average tech architecture & hosting choices, I estimate that startups generally pay AWS about 10-50 times what they would pay if they didn't over engineer stuff and just rented actual servers

for web applications we should *mostly* not focus nearly as much on unit tests but rather focus on making locally ran tests closer to end to end tests
