Research universities are often the largest employers in their region. They are often the primary health care providers to communities. This funding shift will not only reduce US research leadership, it will put working people out of work and reduce healthcare access.

Just reviewed top paper candidates for an ICA Division on the same day I’m finishing 3 reviews for journals. These papers are INCREDIBLE!! They all deserve to be top papers & the authors need to get them under review because I want to cite them! All different methods, a theory paper, & fantastic!

80% of my #CrisisCommunication course students spontaneously mentioned that learning about using #GenAI in smart ways was their top take-away from my course. I encouraged them to reflect on how they used it, and I think they became more responsible as a result! So proud of their ethical practices!

Fantastic two-day writing intensive retreat with my incredible co-editor for the #HandbookofInfrastructureCommunication, Kasey Faust. This handbook (Wiley, 2027) is an interdisciplinary set of 32 chapters from Civil Engineering, Built Environment, and lots of Communication sub disciplines.

Providing detailed feedback on grad class team papers, and I just quoted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in my feedback to them. “Turtle Power” is the type of unity needed to not love our own words too much when writing in a team. I can’t wait to read their final papers! #resilience #communication

For over 20 years, in early Dec. I pick my end-of-the-semester, treat-me day. This might be a staycation day, spa day, or hiking day, but it’s something that motivates me to get through the chaos of this time of year. I encourage others to do this, so I’m curious what fun things have you planned?
