FIA on the second red flag: “Some Race Control personnel remained on-site when the session was restarted. They reported that the manhole cover was moving as cars passed over it, which led to the session being ended under red-flag conditions. Further inspections are underway”

The FIA are being very conservative with this manhole cover situation. And that's fine, because the alternative is a driver ruins their PU like Sainz did in 2023 through no fault of their own.

The good news is that, at the very least, they were able to get a significant amount of practice done today before having a manhole cover potentially coming up again

I can't find a good clip of it online, but this weekend marks two years since my favorite moment watching F1 TV: Laura Winter being surprised on-air and completely losing her train of thought when the Blue Man Group wandered onto the set.

Important to note entering FP1 is that Norris cannot clinch the championship this weekend. An Oscar DNF and a Norris win would leave Piastri 49 points back with 58 still on the board

This is really fucking disgusting… but at the same time, is it not funny that Elon’s bot, while claiming Musk has faced harder trials than Jesus, still refers to the website as Twitter?

Something I’ve always wondered is what exactly Kimi Raikkonen says here at the end of the 2007 Brazil press conference after having won the championship by just a point. If you or somebody you know can speak Finnish, I’d love it if you could translate:

I've made the F1 TV Tracker available publicly, albeit not fully complete yet. I still need to link all 2000-2025 races along with the original F1 TV programs/docs.

So I'm currently working on three different spreadsheets: 1. a new version of my NASCAR Classics tracker 2. an F1 TV tracker 3. an IndyCar YouTube tracker All three will directly link to the content in question, instead of simply tracking what is there and what isn't. Here's an example w IndyCar:

Maybe the best joke of Lisa’s Wedding so far is that all of this technology in 2015 exists but people still primarily use landlines (Maggie hogs the line in a joke that works another way now)

I've been working on a new version of my NASCAR Classics tracker today. This is a completely new style I'm employing compared to my previous ones. I've gotten up to 1985 complete on it. Let me know if there are any link problems:

1) Palmer & I didn't see eye-to-eye (literally), but if he was in any way racist, Frank Robinson woulda destroyed him. 2) What the hell do you mean "would have"?!?!?

Yeah, I’m not going to buy “Jim Palmer is racist” when the source of the Daily Mail (lol) story is somebody already found by the courts to have defrauded Palmer for a million dollars… and that the supposed victim of the abuse has denied it ever happening and that he is friends with Jim.

It’s pretty crazy how even as late as end of season 5, the Simpsons still hasn’t fully defined some of their characters. Skinner’s mom just appeared in a scene and was just a sweet old lady instead of being Skinner’s mom.

Something interesting I have found out is that Wikipedia has a weird thing with individual F1 seasons. The 2014 championship page is noted as the 68th... but the 2015 page notes that year was the 66th. Huh?

It's really funny that I'd bet most F1 fans would say 20 would be a good sweet spot for number of races annually, and yet F1 has only had 20 races twice in its history (2012 and 2017, and 2017 only had 20 because the Nurburgring pulled out in March for the German GP)

If you’re wondering why 1981 is the first season F1 was fully broadcast, it’s because it was the first season under the first Concorde Agreement and that was a provision of it. 1981 was a transition year to 1982, which was what I would call the first race in F1’s modern era.

Having looked more into F1 TV, something I like is that there is at least something for every single race broadcast since 1981, the first year every single race was fully broadcast. What I don’t like is that so little of it before 1999 are full race broadcasts.
