hey chat guess what streams resume next week

ok, so, i should probably explain things i have not streamed since june. why? well, there's the obvious (i went to a con for a few days), but then when coming home my mood crashed pretty badly and i had pretty awful executive dysfunction that made it hard for me to take proper care of myself

y'know i really hope that twitch does not take any money from ICE/DHS i have many friends who are immigrants to the US and know a few streamers who are immigrants to the US. i do not want to inadvertently dehumanize them for the "crime" of immigration through an ad running without my consent.

Twitch currently has no plans, nor has it been approached to run ads for ICE in the USA, according to Chief Product Officer Mikey Minty.

with regards to ads on twitch, it's honestly a huge issue with the viewer experience that streamers have no choice in what ads can be ran on their channels. no categories, no banned advertisers, just frequency and length of ad breaks, and you need a certain frequency and length to disable prerolls.

brb guys canceling a disabled trans woman because the ads she can't control played an ICE ad, this clearly means that she supports the destruction of communities by ICE

do people think that i want draft kings ads on my stream or some shit despite thinking that gambling is a good way to destroy your life, or that i endorse disney because ads for them run on my channel despite how outspoken i am about how much i hate disney and what they stand for

This is a shit take. Twitch streamers have no control over what ads are shown on their streams. Trust me when I say that I do not want ICE ads on my stream, and Twitch running ads from them on my stream is not me endorsing Bush's I mean Trump's Gestapo.

This is misleading. This is about Twitch doing discount offers on subs. The streamer and Twitch still do 50/50, but from the discounted price, just like if it was the normal price. You can opt out. Twitch also announced this over a month ago on Twitter. Yes, they could do better with that.
