Alright, Tír na nÓg is as good as they say! Played a bunch of solo games of it today and am loving it.

Huge surprise arrival today, had no idea this was coming already. Very, very excited to dig into this one!

Finally got a chance to try out Little Town Builders with my son today. Might be a bit beyond him as far as strategy goes, but I enjoyed the interesting combination of worker placement and tile laying.

And as the finale to an awesome week of gaming, we did a three player game of Knitting Circle. Have generally been a big fan of the @alderaceg.bsky.social / @flatoutgames.bsky.social puzzly tile laying games, and this is no exception. Actually ended up enjoying this one more than I expected to.

For the final day of exam week gamerama, we started with a two player game of Galactic Cruise! Been dying to get this one back to the table and was happy to finally be able to play it multiplayer as well! Still loving this one quite a bit!

Followed Almighty up with my first multiplayer game of How to Save a World (expect my solo video tomorrow!), another one I'm really enjoying. Worker placement with card play, tech upgrades, and something like lane battling on tracks all of which combos together in interesting ways.

Day 3 of exam week gameathon, started with my first multiplayer game of the upcoming game Almighty, from Keen Bean Studio. Really digging the twist on area control in this, with the ability to build huge combo turns, plus the asymmetric player characters, and even better with more players!

Day 2 of exam week board games and another new arrival! A Wild Venture came just before our third dropped out, so with just the two of us, it just had to get played. Really enjoy what I've seen so far!

Exam week means game time with my coworkers! First up today, finally got my published copy of Fest Season to the table. Loved the prototype, and this looks/feels even better. Was also my first time playing multiplayer, which also played very nicely.

Picked up Railroad Tiles this week and played a few times solo. Really enjoying this one, quite a bit more than I enjoyed Railroad Ink, and love the different missions it gives for solo. Very curious to try all the different expansions.

Played my first game of Small Time Heroes with the Warrior against the Houndmaster, and yeah, this game is as good as everyone keeps saying; excellent card play, fun leveling up of your deck between waves, interesting tactical decisions, and very awesome, charming art!

Great day for gamey reading! Finally took the plunge and ordered a bunch of Tumulus, a really interesting looking game design publication from @exeunt.press! Then the newest issue of @senetmagazine.bsky.social arrived as well!

Played a bit more Fantasy Map Maker this week and recorded my playthrough today! Wish I had gotten this one on camera, as today's didn't go so well, lol. Really loving this game!

Got in my first two plays of Dust Biters today with my son, and yeah, this game is great. Cool little head to head battle card game themed around a sort of Mad Max style car battle within a moving convoy that is also being chased by a dust storm picking off the last car every turn.

Played my second game of @offthepagegames.bsky.social Grendel prototype solo today, playing as The Mob (dice placement) vs the AI's Police (rondel), and let's just say the police did their job, crushing the mob 21-12. Still really enjoying what I've seen so far though!

Played my first game of Fantasy Map Maker, and yeah, this is great! It's like a leveled up version of Cartographers, with more variability and the addition of actual map making. Only my first play, but already loving it. Looking forward to trying out the event cards next time!

New preview copy arrived today, currently PNP only, but getting a physical release next year. Something akin to Cartographer's big brother, can't wait to dive in!

Also got a chance to try out Mecenat this week, the second game in the National Economy box. Cool to see how the different cards mix up the game play. This one has point cards you can collect while playing and also has some huge end game scoring cards that require some real work to pay off.

Played Atlas Lost twice today. Solo is pretty damn hard, but enjoying it quite a bit (and was only a turn or two away from a win in the first game!). It's an interesting take on tech trees in a race game with multiple end game triggers, plus a bit of resource management.

Never good with lists, and part of my love of the hobby is discovering new things, so very hard to make a top 10 list, but it would include things like Castles of Burgundy Civolution Obsession R.O.V.E. Merchants Cove Coloma GlenMore II It's a Wonderful World Orleans And then SETI or Snow Planner?

Another new game to the table, picked up a copy of Transmissions to introduce my students to rondels. Very glad I got this one, as it's very fun. Somewhat simple set collection rondel game, with a nice bit of tableau/engine building and a secondary bit of tile laying as well.

Finally got my copy of Tricktakers to the table, showing off trick taking to my students, and yeah, it's as good as they say. May very well become my favorite trick taker. The variable player powers make things super interesting. 1/2

Finished my first game of Civolution today. Played it little by little over the course of a few days, and am sure I didn't do everything right, but I had a blast doing it and think it'll get even better as I learn more of the combo-y goodness.

Finally got my copy of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood to the table today. It's a crisis management game a la Pandemic that uses an interesting color based set collection system using cards that are also your attack actions that remove the nasties off of the board.

So excited to finally have Feudum back in my collection, in a new anniversary edition. Also, how could I ever turn down these socks...

All set up for my first play of Civolution! Not gonna lie, it's a bit intimidating, but very excited to finally try it out!

Played my first game of Animal Rescue Team today with my son. Plays a bit like Pandemic with an interesting movement puzzle of getting the right people/items/vehicles to the right places to rescue animals and transport them to shelters.

Also played a couple games of I Made You a Mixtape, beating the AI 127-108 and then being defeated 89-76. I absolutely love the theming on this, and it's a fun take on I Split, You Choose with some set collection and a cool balance mechanism that works surprisingly well solo.

Played another couple games of Progress, the first game in National Economy, and I'm really digging this one, but boy is the solo hard. Only scored 17 points in my first game today, and 100 felt so far away, but then I pulled out a 93! Soooo close, but still so far away...
