Every now and then, some weird thing lodges itself in my mind, like this guy who I sculpted and set up a few weeks ago. For #JustFoodChallenge, I did a 1-day anim of him. It's a little robotic and jumpy, but not bad for 1 day work. I'm going to do something cleaner and more complete of him soon!

(And if you hadn't figured out that little side of me... Uh. Surprise! :) Not really sure it would be that much of a surprise, all in all, though.)

So, there is a (maybe small?) art challenge, for all sorts of art, including renders, called #JustFoodChallenge. Key thing is, what the food IS in the challenge. I'll post an animation, which should make it pretty clear. *evil grin*

I have been playing around with my Glabrezu model. I might have gone too far. I think 13 eyes might be the right number, though!

"Creature" is such a good term. It's gender neutral, it rejects humanity, it implies danger or anomaly, and it's valid for any species. Shoutouts to all my creature friends

Not everyone celebrates our 4th of July holiday, for good reason. But everyone SHOULD celebrate Year of the Snake, and the 4th is a good excuse for watching sky explosions. :)

I think this on @furality.org friends page might mean it is actually over. :( I don't want it to be. It was such, such a great weekend. It is going to feel so weird tomorrow morning, not getting up and immediately looking for an instance of something to join to hang out with friends.

I was "attending" @furality.org all weekend, the VR con. As much as I may grumble about the terrible schedule, I LOVE the event: wonderful venues and a chance to be a horrible monster with friends all weekend. Honestly, better than any "normal" con. I am SO not ready to go back to being a human.

Grrrr. I have a high-end #maingear laptop from a few years ago and its trackpad has failed. They outsource repairs to #microcenter... which only does repairs with in-person drop-off. Of course, they don't have one anywhere NEAR Seattle (why?!?). So, a multi-thousand dollar laptop mostly useless.

Looks like I am going to make a last-minute weekend trip up to #Vancoufur this weekend. If anyone I know will be there, let me know! :)

I feel like I have fallen into the trap of having pretty flat lighting. That is good for reference images where I want to see the whole creature in its entirety, it lacks something in a final image. This is an attempt at more effective lighting to go along with a dynamic pose.

I really like highly dynamic poses in my snakes. Rising up like this, with deep S curves, really accentuate just how strong and powerful the snake would be. Add to that exposed fangs and spitting venom, and it's just downright unfair! Oh, and happy year of the snake, in a couple days! :)====<

It's been just over a year since I left Amazon and basically retired. Recently has it hit me just how burned out I was: I am only now really starting to get over it. The biggest thing was how overly protective of second of free time I was; I felt like I had to justify absolutely everything I did,

Someone seems to be enjoying himself out on the water! It's been too cold here to (enjoyably) sail lately, so I have given Nalkazhiil a bit of time on some warm water somewhere. :) Must be nice to be able to bow-ride like that and still steer the boat.

Ssssssnek! While I don't post everything I render here by any means, I will pick some. I like this fellow because I think he ends up in a pretty inhuman, snake-like pose, yet still looks rather upbeat and curious, maybe not even particularly threatening, despite what he is.

I'm going to be at FC this coming weekend... Wondering who else there I might run into?

I'm learning to slither! This is a pair of animation clips of me working on equations for motion for the snake, automating the slither animation. Turns out, that's not trivial to do! There are still some issues with unwanted lateral motion, but it is getting closer to how I think he would move!

After a while of working on with a bunch of monsters, I went back to my snakey roots. Been working on a new texture for the main snake dude, since the original one was way more skin-like. This is my take on the new texturing, which I think makes him look way more like an actual snake than the old.

We cannot stress enough that adventurers should not attempt to steal from this vault, as it is well guarded. Attempts to bribe the guard with a cut of the gold stolen are almost certainly ill-advised, at best. Attempts to steal the guard itself, while tempting, are entirely to be avoided.

Finally, this fellow is my latest VRChat avatar. Next time I log in, I'll get a pic of his full body. Now that I am retired (did I mention that? :) ), I am going to spend some time on these avatars and try and make some of the models available for sale.

Of course, Odon's followers are exactly what you would expect. One thing about the snake form I would find very appealing would be the verticality: I am not sure, given the chance, they would spend much time on the ground at all.

Been playing around with modeling what both Gil's and Odon's followers would look like, once they are really "accepted" by their demonic patron. Odon's is well established, but I think this would be Odon's. I don't know about you, but I am not about to tell that dog to get off the couch.

I've been working on a new VRChat avatar on and off for the past couple weeks, but he's more or less done, with a few small changes left, including animations. Yes, he has way too many eyes. :) It's inspired by the ESO Mantikora, but deviates quite a bit from the reference images. #vrchat #avatar

I haven't been super vocal about this, but I'm going into my second week of not working now. After 15+ years, I've left my job as a software engineer, will be picking up some work teaching sailing and coaching a race team, but otherwise, "I'm done." Mornings are the weirdest, not sure what to do.

I didn't really grow up knowing anything about "furry." In college, I got into D&D with some friends I had. That was my first exposure through some of the game's monsters. When I first saw the Yuan'Ti in1st edition (on the right), that was where I said to myself "I want to BE that!" Here's my take!

"Grocery shopping." When you're a man-eating snake, your idea of "groceries" might be a bit different than many people's.

Was playing around today with changing some rigging configuration, making things work better if he's stretched out, not in a human posture, but a more serpentine one. The rigging now is a lot more natural for his head to be in line with the torso, instead of looking forward, "human-style."

There's another feature of being a snake: slithering. There's an interesting side-effect to that. You don't really need high ceilings, no problem slithering through there at full speed. Get some strike-ready S-curves. Lunch, though, will have to resort to crawling around, not ideal for humans.

We all have our dreams... Not sure how much I'd like seeing that in the mirror but not actually being it. :) (Manipulation of 5 distinct renders, one human, one snake, three others of the snake with different elements masked to make sure I don't have any foreground snake features visible.)

Here, have a snake! Been playing around a lot lately with this model. It's based on a commercial model, but I have been doing more and more customizing of it over time. The head is pretty much my own sculpt and the texturing is mostly redone. This was playing with more "snake," less "human" pose

Here's a sculpt of my own... This is my take on the D&D "Glabrezu" demon. I feel like the human part adds an appropriate level of creepiness in the detail. Need to put some time improving the human mouth and fingers, though. Tried to make it "not really human" even there, but went too inhuman.

Another image which isn't strictly my own model, but a myriad of different ones, blended together... I'll post one of my own sculpts here in a moment, I think. A tauric version of Gil (or at least one of the demons bound to him) "having fun" with one of the guests down in the pits of The Abyss.

When venom isn't enough. This one isn't my model from scratch, but is substantially modified, especially around the head. It is based on the Daz Genesis 9 figure, and the way that is set up, making me thing I may try a creature based on that myself.
