Writing on Location Fri 22 August 2-4.30pm Free Take some time to explore Edinburgh with your writing hat on, guided by our Associate Playwright Davey Anderson. After a brief introduction, you'll be let loose with a zine full of prompts to get you going, before gathering to share your findings.

A Good Night Out: Scenes from John McGrath’s Theatre Manifesto Monday 18th August 3pm Traverse Theatre Writer and theatre-maker John McGrath’s A Good Night Out is a rallying call for a revolutionary, compassionate and challenging theatre culture that centres audiences in content and form.

Our final Case Study Session of the year is tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd July from 2-3pm with Lesley Hart. Lesley will offer insight into the process of working on the development of new plays, sharing examples from throughout her extensive career working across theatre, film, television & radio drama.

Our next Case Study session takes place on Monday 12th May from 2.30-3.30pm. In conversation this month is Niroshini Thambar, composer, sound designer and musician. Niroshini will share practical examples of her experience of working on new plays with writers.

For the next two months, while our Administrator Catherine Elliot is on leave, we’ll have a new face in the office and at events as Georgia Porter works with us as temporary cover in that role, ensuring continuity across our supports for playwrights and events.

The Great Accountability Rodeo continues next week with the first of our Writing Sprints. Writing Sprints are 30 minute online writing sessions every Monday morning at 10am and Thursday afternoon at 1pm to help you carve out time in your week to focus on writing.

Projects Producer Deadline: 5pm, Friday 28th February 2025 Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland is seeking a motivated, informed and inventive Projects Producer to support its work with playwrights.

Deadline: Monday 10th February 1pm If you have a performance-ready draft of a new piece of writing of 50-55 minutes in length for no more than 3 actors, now is the time to submit! There are just a few days left to submit your script to the A Play, A Pie and A Pint Script Reading Service.
