A funny thing about this is that if they had finished second in their group...they would have faced Spain in the round of 32 lol and TBH, I think Argentina would have won that game! Spain wasn't fully there yet, and Argentina's players didn't have an additional hour of extra time on their bodies.

That's the thing about the World Cup, though. Luck plays a factor. Paths play a factor. No one will ever give a flying fuck about any of that for a champion. No one ever has. It's a stupid argument.

This I think speaks to my running blog take on Messi, which is that he wasn't actually all that great in this tournament outside of the goals. The big exception was the England game, where he was a key part of the comeback. But relying this much on a 39 year old, even Messi, was not a great idea.

I'm sorry if I sound too angry at this, but it was really embarrassing for a whole lot of people that I thought were smarter than this. People bought the "FIFA is rigging the tournament for the Israeli Argentinians" propaganda hook line and sinker, and emphatically refused to learn.

Now that they lost, I hope everyone looks in the mirror and finds some shame about how much their brains broke over Argentina this tournament.
