dug up an old 50-wire IDC ribbon cable (old printer cable? no idea is from my gigantic bag of old cables), when I saw the connectors, I thought hey I could plug my ESP32 into this :)

bunch of people asked me to set this to music, bunch of others asked me for the code, so I asked Suno AI to recite my WebGL shader setup code, and it's even almost kinda sorta in sync (it was hard, with the frame rate and video recording, and external mp3 player) #glsl #shaders #webgl2hop

I think I managed to make it work!! 😁 tested everything with the multimeter, turn pots one way = continuity with the black wire, and turn the other way = with the red wire ... so it should work now :-)

posting these so everybody can tell me how to get better at soldering I've been trying to wire 5 pots to an ESP32 for nearly a week now, and it's crazy how just 1 is easy, but 5 is exponentially harder

well that didn't work 😅 trying again tomorrow (well it sorta kinda did work, but also not really, fortunately the process emerged better plans)

guess what I'm building if this actually works EVERYBODY can electronic and so are you ⚡️💪 (disclaimer: might not actually work -- stay tuned)

still waiting for some electronic components to arrive so I translated the C code back to JS (taking care to replicate int overflows by putting |0 and >>>0 everywhere) cause we don't know how spoiled we are -- compiling the C code = 15s, flashing the ESP = 20s, JS = instant
