Usually I try to take pretty photos of frogs but on this hot day I was struck by how the local bullfrogs live in soupy mix. The water is coated in a biofilm, there's debris and dead insects in the water and colorful reflections of the flowering skunk cabbage. #herps #wildlifephotography 🌿 🐸

YIL (yesterday TIL) that garter snakes can swim! It was sliding over the algae mats, swimming on the surface of the water and even went completely under the surface for a time. Clearly I was not the only one hunting for frogs at Burnaby Lake. #herps #wildlifephotography 🌿 🐍
