My shelves are bending! While I’m taking all the books off to deep clean the bookcase, I’m replacing the shelves upside down so they essentially bend upwards…in the hope they will bend the other way and straighten…that’s physics right? Anyone else had this issue with their shelves?

In the process of removing books from my shelf and replacing them, I have somehow managed to lose one book and not been able to fit them all back on the same bookcase! How does this even happen?!

I’m doing a deep clean of my bookshelves while I’m off this week and oh my god, taking all the books off my shelves is a workout in and of itself! And then finding space for them while I deep clean the shelves is a Herculean task 😂🙈

Okay so I finished The Poppy War series a while ago but I needed time to sit with it before articulating my thoughts.

Okay, I love Ava Reid books, but Fable for the End of the World was mesmerising. The prose was so beautiful and lyrical I was just constantly finding myself in awe. It was just absolutely brilliant. Blending such a Hunger Games style violence with such genuinely beautiful prose…👏🏻👏🏻

The Burning God by @rfkuang.bsky.social was one of the best books I have ever read. But I don’t think I can ever forgive what happened to Venka and Kitay. I’ll need therapy and I’ll still never recover.

Publishing and poetry people, I need assistance. I have found a wealth of poems by dad wrote over the years before he died, and I wanted to get them published in his memory. Any advice on how to go about this? Self publishing? Trad? Any help is appreciated!

I came across a snippet I wrote in my notes app for my book and…it’s actually pretty amazing? Like, that one paragraph absolutely hits! I can’t remember when I wrote it or what I was thinking, but thanks past me!

Just finished Death of a Bookseller! It was a great book, it had amazing slow building tension and a poetic ending. It also left me in such a weird mood. Like the darkness of the book has seeped into my everyday life, which honestly is a testament to the great writing of @aliceslater.bsky.social

Have you ever read a book where the main characters are absolutely horrid people, and it actually alters your mood? I’m liking the book, it’s a great book, but I feel that since I started reading it my mood has taken a nosedive 😂🙈

I finally got around to reading The Miseducation of Cameron Post, a book I have been meaning to read for years now. And I’m not quite sure how to adequately review this one. I enjoyed reading it, if “enjoyed” can really be the right word for a book with this kind of content.

I’ve been a bit absent the past week. Haven’t had a day off work so far and been extremely exhausted! However, I did finish Four Ruined Realms by Mai Corland (thanks @zaffrebooks.bsky.social) and loved it! Very Six of Crows/Among Thieves. I’m now reading The Miseducation of Cameron Post (finally)!

Finished Five Broken Blades and I loved it! Reminds me of Six of Crows in some ways, but completely it’s own thing. Reading Four Ruined Realms now! Thanks @zaffrebooks.bsky.social for the copies 😍

I have just this second finished reading The Lotus Empire by @tashasuri.bsky.social and…I don’t even know what to say (i think the tabs speak for themselves!) I adore this series. This series has broken me in more ways than I can count, but it was all worth it for that ending (1/2) #booksky

I’m not feeling well so I thought I would update my book journal and try something a little different. I tailored these journal pages to the books. The first, if you’ve read Lincoln Rhyme, you’ll know as one of his Unsub whiteboards for Book 16. The second book had heavy flower imagery throughout.

I hate working the late shifts at work because what do you mean I start at 1 and don’t finish until 1030 or later? 😭 that’s my day completely gone.

You guys…I was convinced I had lost my Kindle at some point last year… I just found it! On my bed unit! Where I keep the book I’m reading! It was literally underneath each book I have read over the past year, and I just didn’t notice it! (now i need to find the charger)

Surprisingly, after reading Harrow the Ninth for the (maybe fifth) time, I actually understood some of what was happening! Either that or I’m just as insane as Harrow.

Mum: you’re supposed to be writing your own book, not journaling about others. Me: journaling about the books I’ve read actually helps me write mine!

I’ve just bought myself a lovely personalised notebook so I can write and draw beautiful reviews of the books I read. Now I just need some pretty pens/pencils/colours to design the pages with. Any recommendations on where I can get decent ones? Not children’s ones.
