I've been thinking about crosswords a lot recently. I LOVE trying new types of puzzles. But, I tend to lose interest in a puzzle after solving a few of a type. Crosswords aren't like this for me. I've done dozens (hundreds?) and still really enjoy them.

Been enjoying irregular Sudokus recently. Like regular Sudokus, each value cannot repeat in a row, column or area. But the areas aren't always rectangles, they vary in shape. This helps each puzzle feel novel.

I'm quickly becoming a convert from Svelte to React, but I can't stop myself from naming reusable state logic with "use" prefixes like React hooks.

I'm implementing backtracking algorithms (as part of solving/generating puzzles). One interesting learning has been that the backtracking is much more effective when you can recognize a path is invalid early.

Tiled Words is a really well crafted crossword variant by Paul Hebert. tiledwords.com The UI is so intuitive that I never needed instructions --unfamiliar rules were instantly inferable from the interface. Curious how he's generating the puzzles.
