Sunday stocktake on the charity and junk shop book finds from this week. The Owen Hatherley continues to be a joy. My Paris fixation persists whereas the Sarah Waters is set only a mile or so from where I live. And others for rainy days.

Celebrating this album’s 35th year of being a cornerstone of my collection. For thirty of those, I reckon, people would only stare blankly whenever I mentioned it; so glad it has been more widely discovered. As wonderful on this Sunday morning as it ever was on the 1,820 Sunday mornings before it.

I have had a record buying hiatus these last few weeks, yet I was prepared to bend the rules (ruler… lol) for this one. Meg Christian’s debut and the very first release on Olivia. Recommended for fans of Carole, Joni, Judee, and other ladies of the canyon.

The sleeve is a crime. As is the fact this wasn’t released till after Green’s death in ‘79 - whereas it was actually recorded for Blue Note in ‘64 with Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, Bob Cranshaw, and James Spaulding.

Loved seeing everyone’s Mal Waldron collections these last couple of days, but did you know that between 1956 and 1962 he made a significant contribution to no fewer than nine Gene Ammons albums. Two standards here, one closing out each side.

Visiting my dad tomorrow and taking along a care package of records. This is one I have chosen to include.
