I know so many women whose careers have been blocked by gross men -- or who have been forced to take the long way around to avoid them. And it's such a fucking waste.

I spoke to a friend on the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota board. They need financial donations to keep up with the heightened demand for their services:

the harbor in santa barbara has to be dredged every winter -- sometimes multiple times each winter. the army corps of engineers handles that kind of thing here, and most places. currently, there's no funding, so no dredging. meanwhile, the harbor is silting up. this is super good governing, yes.

I read Mary Austin, The Land of Little Rain over the holidays and it's lovely. It's about the eastern Sierra, specifically, but it encompasses the wider region of both the Sierra and the basin and range country of Nevada and Utah.

The two things I did this year that I loved the most haven't published yet so I can't share 'em in the end of the year sort of way. But, I wrote a whole damn coffee table book and it was really fun. And, I was invited to contribute to a book project in collab with a photographer whose work I love.
