Zabu initially proposed 3 palettes per character. At some point we thought it could be fun to go up to 4. Why not? The answer to that question is: ROM space. We want our game to fit within 4MB, so we decided to reduce our characters to 2 palettes only. Here's some of the scrapped content.

Additional context: 1- Now your character flashes when a charged attack is done charging 2- Now attacks can send people flying in different ways (we put a vertical value that's much too high here, just for the lols)

When drawing an animation, I usually look for a good reference (sometimes I completely make things up, like for unrealistic anims, but that's rare).
