I let small annoyances build today, mostly from my own stubbornness. Then stepped outside with the dogs and realised I live in the middle of a postcard. Perspective’s a good cure for pettiness. How lucky am I to call this home.

Last night of my 30s. Went wild. Took the dogs out, picked up after them, came home before it got dark. Watch out if you’re out and about tonight. This boy’s off the rails. But only till about 8 o’clock when he goes to bed. Crazy.

Five years ago today, at 11:11am, we lost our boy. My soulmate, my purpose, my best friend. Bert was the gentlest soul. Not a day passes that I don’t think of my special boy. The one who started it all. Until we are together again. And what a glorious day that will be ❤️ Bert 2010-2020 🌈

Babysitting Maci today. After a lovely stretch of Scottish sunshine, I think this morning was her very first taste of proper heavy rain since joining the family. And she did not approve. Cue the hissy fits. The stubborn streak. The dramatic grumping. Absolutely adorable.

Our morning beach run was momentarily paused by a little seal, resting after a long night at sea. Ball back in the pocket, dogs off-leash but kept at a respectful distance. A quiet moment to appreciate the beauty of nature.

A beautiful morning walk and refreshing swim in the river. That is, until 12 men emerged from the woods, guns in hand, for a pheasant shoot nearby. Despite the gunfire, the dogs stayed calm, splashing and playing as if nothing had changed. Later, they trotted home, drying off in their stylish robes.

She's evolved and perfected the art of sitting like a human, all to gain an optimal vantage point of the kitchen. "Make mine a plateful, Dawn. Preferably something with cheese. Hurry up, the show's about to start." 📺 🍔😋

Out we went to take a pee, As fog had swallowed all we could see. Lost in the mist, we heaved a sigh, Then home for dinner, warm and dry.
