Maria does what she needs to do as soon as she possibly can. Discipline was drilled into her from her early teens onward as part of her training. She wouldn't even consider procrastinating on anything.

Her name is Maria Lucia Carlena. I originally named her Lucia, which became Lucia Carlena, then Lucia Maria Carlena as the story evolved. After a certain bit of character development, I changed it so that Maria had been her first name the entire time, and she'd been going by her middle name.

Wild how freeing scrapping an entire chapter can be.

Maria does not like surprises. Her instincts see a surprise as a prelude to a life or death struggle. It puts her in fight or flight, and she always chooses fight.
