Circuitously ended up on FB where I learned of the death of my old boss at Roger’s Word Service: Bob Rogers. He taught me what a “lid” was telling me tales of 1950s jazz musicians he hung with in The Village as a teenager. Loved his rants: “I’m a small business owner and I WANT higher taxes!”

Got my daily #meditation done in the morning today—it’s been hectic lately and I haven’t been getting to it until afternoon most days. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be consistent. I’m currently on a 268 day streak.

Finally put a finger on something: Amazon prime primed us for AI Slop. I’ve bought so much less weird ugly cheap stuff since quitting it 2 years ago. Buying stuff from actual stores means being surrounded by much lovelier, and less, stuff.

Excellent day of redistributing goods in the community (neighborhood-wide yard sale). I swapped a well-loved ebike for the most giant tv I’ve ever had. It’s going in the basement where the whole vibe is “in here is more fun than normal rooms.”

A classic that of mine that always gets the unkind and unfun people upset. Drag Queen story hour at the public library. A guy came in and started yelling about corrupting kids or something and everyone looked at him briefly, but kept dancing. He left eventually. Happy #pridemonth

Our new kitty #cleopatra makes her debut on #caturday. Shes been with us about three weeks and is still getting used to the other kitties and the space—coming into her best cat self slowly but surely.

I was listening to We Refuse by Kellie Carter Jackson when I got to the gym. Did a quick check to see what was on the sound system. The very first beats of Billie Jean. Which one did I go with? #trainingfortheresistance

The wonderful part is that in #athensohio the people are going to be open to this logic. “Let’s have a meeting of the houses on this block to know one another because we need to be connected when the country collapses.” Few around here would question that.

So happy to see these 11 year olds still have a grand ole time poking around in the creek. They’ve been doing this together since they were toddlers.

Went back for a follow up to the most beautiful doctors office ever. It’s OMM and they fixed my messed up thumb. $25 copay. And I’m better! Amazing! But I also got a bill for $2000 from insurance yesterday—started a new biologic because they wouldn’t give me the one I was on.

Trump has purged federal agencies of black workers, the military of high-ranking black officers, supports GOP efforts to purge Southern states of black representation and wants elite universities to discriminate against black applicants, lest they admit too many (who obviously don’t deserve it.)

Relaxing quietly in the guest room where our new kitty, Cleopatra, is hiding. We finally were able to get her out of the ceiling—after a week! Meanwhile, existing cat Mario is as unbothered as ever—illegally spread out on the kitchen island. #caturday

It’s #caturday because cats. This is Evie in her collar meant to make it harder for her to kill birds—she wears it in fledgling season. Shes an indoor cat, but…also an escape artist.

My kid realizing her ballet recital means missing TV time three nights in a row is screaming “I can’t! I need a break! I need to relax! Every day I have to!” Taught her well.

On this #earthday I’m going to be an American and celebrate replacing the transformer on my power recliner rather than just buying a whole new chair.
