Good evening Lincoln, you overachiever, you broke a record high today with a high of 60°F. Temperatures across Nebraska this afternoon reached the 60s and 70s. It may be early January, but temperatures across the state were normal for early April.

Lincoln's forecast is above normal temperature today thru January 19. Daily highs this coming week forecast as much as 25 degrees above normal. Precipitation chances for later next week have diminished with the rain forecast to miss us to our East. No snowfall for Lincoln in the two week outlook.

4pm New Year's Eve in Lincoln and it's 57°F (just 2 degrees shy of the record for today of 59°F). It is as warm as mid 60s in SW Nebraska. Bitter cold is lurking off to our north. Cooler 40s in Lincoln tomorrow, seasonal 30s on Friday then well above normal this coming weekend.

Today's high, 48°F, was at midnight. 8am temperatures ranged from 0°F N. Central Neb. to 35°F in far SE Neb. Even colder MT -13°F, WY -9°F. A fast moving narrow band of snow will move over our area this am. Very cold Monday, quick warmup by Tuesday with all forecast highs above normal thru Jan. 11.

The 4pm temperature map today had temperatures in the 60s in Nebraska, 70s in Kansas and 80s in Texas but look north it was -1°F in Montana and 10°F in ND. Cold air plunges into our area overnight and a wintry mix expected during the day tomorrow.

Our current weather pattern of above normal temperatures that began on Dec.15 is forecast to continue thru at least January 8 with just a few days of slightly below normal temperatures. At this time, no snow expected in Lincoln the next two weeks.

Temperatures much more like early spring than early winter expected today with a high near 60°F in Lincoln. Two daily highs slightly below normal Dec. 28-29 otherwise remaining warmer than normal thru the first week in January. At this time, no snow expected our area thru January 7.

What a stunning recovery today from the Arctic cold over the weekend. Mid afternoon it was 52°F in Lincoln and mid 60s the western 2/3 of Nebraska and as warm as 67°F in the panhandle. Denver was 70°F. Repeat performance tomorrow and Wednesday with a forecast of well above normal temperatures.

The four-day arctic blast is over. Snow totals map for Dec. 15 thru Dec. 30 has us without any snowfall. Almost all of the continental U.S. is warmer than normal on the Christmas Day temperature anomaly map. Next 2 weeks none of the daily highs are forecast below normal.

Bitter cold polar plunge this weekend with temperatures Saturday falling during the day to the lower teens by 4pm with 20mph winds creating wind chills near zero. Above normal temperatures return by Monday, mid 50s by Wednesday. Dec. 15-26 only one daily high forecast below normal.
