4 games that defined my 2025 This is pretty similar to what I did last year and plan to do next year lol. I wanted to put in a game I didn't even play as a joke like FGO (since quitting it let me play these big RPGs) or Gnosia or Needy Girl Overdose, but nah.

I'm not gonna say I *never* do, but oversized LE packaging that doesn't fit on the same shelf as my 600 other Blu-rays is really annoying, and as physical media goes increasingly niche/boutique you see too many cases where the LE is the only release or a standard release comes months later.

Shining Force would also be a contender but I'm pretty certain nothing I could say to the theoretical genie giving me this new game that wouldn't make the new Shining game another Action RPG entry like the last dozen or so everyone forgets got made after Shining Force III

I've seen a decent amount of lamenting how 12-13 episodes isn't enough to tell a whole story and while I agree to a point it's kinda neat we got 2 6 episode anime this season and neither of them seem to have suffered for it

As much as Visual Novel fans are eating better now, there was definitely something to the period where basically the only officially localized titles were whatever nukige JAST could get their hands on so it was very likely your first experience was something like X-Change

I was expecting a lot of things out of Kowloon Generic Romance, largely involving being a retro anime GIF Tumblr come to life, but I was pleasantly surprised by the extreme levels of Gender going on. Wish I had a good gif of Xiaohei leaving Kowloon, frilly dresses fading away, but alas.

Ok everyone complains about the motion interpolated "4K60" anime clips on YouTube, but I hate it when I try to find a clip of a scene and it's been edited for brevity. Like yeah it may also be to dodge copyright, but the weird music/dialogue cuts absolutely rob it of any impact.

I actually really appreciate that Square (and sometimes Capcom) are doing full-fat mobile ports of their less-demanding console games, but I hate that gamepad support isn't standard on em and the only way to figure out if a particular game has it is to dig through the reviews.
