Absolutely wild fact: creating a new V8 isolate (assuming I’m not “holding it wrong”) and compiling a large ES module can take over 100ms. But creating a new component instance in wasmtime is more on the order of 10ms 🤔 I *think* this is roughly apples to apples. #WASM #javascript

This weekend I finally got around to trying something “real” with WASM components. I was able to successfully componentize a sizable library *written in JavaScript* using jco, and then call it from a Rust application! many right edges but it works! Blog post coming. #WASM #rustlang #javascript

That's hilarious! I assume this is because nobody knows about cal.com (I only had 68 meetings). (Why don't I just use Calendly like everyone else? Because they have this insane limit of 5 calendars per account, no matter how much you pay them.)

For the last ~9 months I had the Grado SR325x as my daily heaphones. They took several *weeks* to get used to, but they did sound very good. My biggest complaints were all about the build. They were SUPER uncomfortable (couldn't use them for more than ~2h)... and the cable was WAY too heavy...

Sometime in 2023, my sister forwarded me an envelope using FedEx. It cost about $50 to send to South Korea. Sometime in 2024, she did the same. It cost $87. Today she forwarded a similar envelope to my business partner in Estonia. UPS wanted $254. FedEx was a relative bargain at $187. wtf?

Hot take: JSON is a terrible configuration file format. I get why it sounded like a good idea at the time, but not being able to handle comments (without custom parsers /extensions) is kinda insane.
