THE RARE BLUE APES OF CANNIBAL ISLE (1975) A Malaysian “kids film” made by a sexploitation director. Genuinely the most entertaining thing I’ve seen in a while. Highly recommended to fans of ROAR! and other mondo obscurities.

This boxset is wild. First watch: RED MIDNIGHT made in 1966 by a New England Optometrist about the very specific dangers of wooden homes being built too close together in America and the potential for enemy firestorms. Part documentary footage, part fictionalized narrative from a paranoid mind.

Emerging from the time fog of being a new parent to remind you (and myself!) that I made a Christmas horror film released by Arrow last year. Throw it into your last minute rotation if you’re looking for something naughty.

Once again out here to declare Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness is one of his most underrated yet finest works. The eerie atmosphere. The sense of doom closing in. The provocative strangeness of it. What a film

WITCHBOARD by Glenn McQuaid (I SELL THE DEAD, VHS) is essential October music. Incredible stuff.

One of the most upsetting and genuinely disturbing films, which I also happen to watch an unhealthy amount because of how masterfully staged and beautifully shot it is. Makes for a great double with EXORCIST III.

I dug the new PET SEMATARY. Would make for a fun double feature with the always haunting DEATH DREAM.

THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES is many things. One of those things is a great *sounding* movie.
