Is AI exacerbating the digital divide or just highlighting it's there? Schools with better CPD will respond quicker to new tech developments so staff are better trained, engage more, feel more confident etc.

Just spent 20 mins playing around with Fortnite Creator having seen it at

I remember the school drugs adviser telling us that people don't get addicted to substances, but the circumstances under which they take them. He took diamorphine (i.e. heroin) in hospital for a broken back and had no trouble stopping. Should we look for what causes kids to get addicted to phones?

There's an interesting map of GCSE Computer Science provision on this page. If you compare Warwickshire and Birmingham, the percentage of Warwickshire schools offering the GCSE is much higher, but the proportion of students actually taking it is higher in Birmingham.

In huge news, the UK government was just defeated in the House of Lords for a second time over AI & copyright. The government had removed amendments to the Data Bill that would require AI companies to disclose their training data. The Lords have now reinserted them. 🧵 1/2

Interesting study on the performance (inc bias) of AI when marking essays. It tends towards the middle giving fewer high or low grades. It's demographic bias was minimal but it did assign lower scores to African American Vs Pacific Islander students.
