A new laser cut landscape. This one is A3, and made of 14 birch panels painted various shades of red and white. I originally painted it shades of red and yellow but the mid-tones were a horrible peachy colour that HAD to go.

New 3D wooden landscape: After the tide goes out. Five layers of birch panel, laser cut, painted, and varnished.

A work in progress sitting in a sunny window so I can see how / where it catches the light. Eight birch sheets, laser cut fixed with 8mm bolts, nuts, and washers. It still needs painting.

Just finished this one called A Day at the Beach. It’s eight layers of laser cut birch wood, painted and bolted.

Why have one sketch of @axlemelb.bsky.social when you can have two? The red pose is made of vertical lines and the black with horizontals. A1, drawn with two Pilot Hi-repoint V7 rollerballs.

Trying to hit deadline, but…

So much of my art is geometric and done with Biros that sometimes I really just want to make a mess with charcoal and chalk. Here’s last night’s effort.

Tree’s up

Well. This has just finished. It took three days to plot, required 18 pen changes, and comprises 19,000 circles. Only now am I wondering about my choice of colours.

Today has mainly been circles. 8000 circles on A1 paper drawn using eight Bic Biros.

This is what 5850 circles and a very hard working Bic Biro look like. The only annoying thing is I’ve thought of something even better to do with this picture which now means starting again from scratch. Watch this space.

New favourite thing: instant photos on till receipts

I won a competition with this photo. It's an old postcard of Stone Bridge in Chelmsford, which I'm holding in front of the same view today.

Making more mosaics.

This was a big plot. It’s A1 and contains 2.3km of ink from six Bic Biros. Took 52 hours, 42 mins to plot, but I’m happy with the result.
