NS 6920 has exited the overhaul line and was spotted running on #1 Startup today. Next stop is the paint shop, we’re told.

The Virginian heritage unit went back into service this morning heading east from Altoona. It was washed during this latest shopping.

13V picked up the D&H heritage unit and three seemingly dead ES44DCs this morning. Could the GEs be heading for rebuilding?

A correction we need to make: NS 30, the Marco Polo, was only on loan to the SERM. It’s on its way back to Altoona currently.

NS 8184 has been repainted in the landmark scheme and is the ALTOONA.

The original NS heritage unit showed up at the Juniata Shops recently. The Interstate is also still here and the Wabash is currently in the shop. The NPBL should be going back together soon.

The D&H heritage unit got a new horn recently. It now has a black K5LA. The Wabash is in the backshop. The NPBL is at the backshop. The Interstate is waiting for shop time.

The business train is back in Altoona along with the D&H heritage unit.

NS 1230 was sitting outside today. This unit and 1231 are newly assigned to the OCS.

NS 1230/1231 will be assigned to OCS duties with their special paint.

1703 is out of the shops and going back into service very soon. It still has its 20-645 engine.

Sperry car 136 finally departed Altoona this week apparently going back into rail-testing service after four years in Altoona.

1072 is repainted.

Spotted two additional SD40-3 rebuilds today. They now go up to at least 6455.

The office car special returned to Altoona yesterday evening.

Special paint units at Altoona currently are the Illinois Terminal, Wabash, and NS 1800. We heard the IT is getting a repaint.

NS has and heritage unit. NS 1080 is painted for the Delaware & Hudson.

NS 1703 is here.

NS 6446 is indeed a slug master. Confirmed today. We believe it’s the first slug master in the SD40-3 series on NS.

Here’s a look at NS 6446, the freshest SD40-3 rebuild. Notice it’s coupled to a slug. We’re not sure yet if this unit was also modified as a slug master. This was the unit involved in an unfortunate fatal incident in Decatur, AL.

3329 is at the Juniata Shops. This was the first engine I ever ran.

4005 back into service.

There are a number of new C6M rebuilds underway at Altoona as of recently. 9735 is one of them.

We have four heritage units at the Juniata Shops currently. Erie and IT are here for maintenance and SOU and VGN are supposedly being prepped for an OCS.

The weather sure does suck here tonight! Looking forward to spring.

We’re told the Sugar Creek is heading to the Age of Steam Roundhouse.

Ohio Central “Sugar Creek” was removed from storage at Pittsburgh station and moved to Conway last night.

We’re told NS 1705 left the shop earlier this month with its 20-645 engine intact after mechanical repair to the air compressor.

NS 1705 is back in service after having crank damage repaired caused by a failed air compressor. We’re not sure if they dropped at 16-645 engine into it or repaired the 20-645.

A crew is switching the office cars today to prepare for an OCS trip next week.

The TAG and VGN units have arrived at Altoona. Apparently there’s an OCS soon.
