Sunlust map 32 "Postcoitus Doom" Some true cbt here with a shootable switch opening the level and alerting at least 50 arch-viles that will be the bane of your existence for the entirety of the level. Dense fights where one mistake means death. Free BFG included. At least it's short. #DOOM

Sunlust map 31 "Birds of a Feather" A peaceful short puzzle combat level. Dark skies (because of source port) and gentle music makes this a fun respite from what's to come. The tight combat encounters and tiny walls to avoid arch-vile attacks is very fun once you get the hang of it. #DOOM

Realize I didn't have screen capping figured out on my linux laptop yet when heading out of town. I'll just get screen shots when I get home.

Since my 3 month break (maybe longer sadly, I really hope not) is coming up, I truly hope I can continue practicing pixel art more frequently and posting about games i like. Also starting a GODOT journey? Chilling with friends will be a priority of course, but both should be easily manageable.

"Nostalgic Entropy" is an absolutely gorgeous non-linear single map by "Ashtral Fiend" with an on point 80's Vaporwave vibe. I can't compliment enough how well crafted these encounters were in these environments. Maps where you can take multiple paths are hard to balance and they nailed it! #DOOM

Sunlust map 15 "Strength and Anger" This is the one that let's you know the gloves are off. You better learn how to weave around enemies and make the best use of infighting you can. A true challenge to pistol start single segment and it will only get rougher. #DOOM

Sunlust map 14 "Troglobite" A short level with 1 tough fight. Though you may notice a yellow key you missed at the end. A map that allows you to opt in to making things easier with secrets. Invul now or later. Use it later as there is a super secret, a careless whisper. #DOOM

Sunlust map 13 "Ruins of Skania" I'm always a fan of maps where the exit is visible from the start. Most of this is small fights that has an Arch-Vile sprinkled in after the fact to start causing trouble after. Extra bonus for sneaky chaingunners and Imps bullying a Spider Mastermind. #DOOM

Sunlust map 12 "Dangeresque" What a fantastic tight fight that just keeps sprawling open at everyturn! Music pumping and monsters infighting a Spider Mastermind and Cybie! I enjoy the two cubbies where you choose between health or armor pickups. Just run and gun! #DOOM

The GZDOOM kerfuffle will be interesting to see develope, especially with all the fantastic indie games coming out on it. If there is a mass migration, I can only hope the transfer is a smooth one. Especially for the game devs. I look forward to your debut UZDOOM. Best of luck to the devs!

Sunlust map 11 "Cave Culture" Every weapon is a trap. Just assume that getting a better weapons comes at a price. Just remember to always prioritize the Arch-viles. They're there to make you panic, but rocket spam at a safe distance will take care of them and their meat shields. #DOOM

Sunlust map 10 "Maru" Multiple choice is always a fun way to trick you into thinking there's a correct choice. I prefer to think of it like a loop. Sometimes your need to run in circles to stir the pot. I'm a huge fan of the fight at the end. Last pic. #DOOM

Sunlust map 9 "Saquasohuh We get choices in our approach here that makes another section easier. I'm a fan. The plasma rifle may be tempting to make encounters easier, but hold out until you get the BFG and you can really clean house with the last few sections. Cybie go boom on mobs. #DOOM

I highly advise anyone who is a fan a arty story games and skating to go try out the demo for "Skate Story". I didn't play it fully as I already know I'm going to enjoy it highly. Everyone involved in this should be proud and I can't praise the soundtrack enough!

Sunlust map 8 "Oneira" A haunting soundtrack follows us around in this short spitfire of a map. Tight fights that rely on your ability to make other monsters fight Cyberdemons for you while you clean up and avoid scraps. Being short, death and failure don't seem so bad. Time to learn! #DOOM

SUNLUST map 7 "Total Enclosure" Tight encounters and overall short level. What's this?! You only have half the kills? Find several hidden switches to secrets to find the actual secret, the other half of the kills as your reward in one tough fight with a BFG! A teacher for proper BFG use. #DOOM

Booted up "Beyond Sunset" to mess around in as it's my next game visit after current one and I just had to highlight these excellent controller options. This is how it's done and it's feels so smooth! Only downside is you have to really fine tune it manually. Still amazing.

A minor gripe with CULTIC is the controller feel and settings aren't quite there. It's enough and I adapted, but I suppose the vast options and buttery smooth precision of games like Ion Fury, Left 4 Dead 2, and the Quake 2 remaster have spoiled me for what PEAK controller support and feel can be.

I think the fact Silksong starts off punishing and continues from there will filter folks from sticking with it. What I perceive as a weakness. I feel the discussion between "hard vs punishing" and "bad design vs not to my taste" is very murky when we're not all working with the same vocabulary.

Some minor gripes can't tarnish how overjoyed I was playing this. Absolute delight of an FPS to play and easily the best of the year for me that I've played. I HIGHLY advise anyone to give the full CH1 and 2 CULTIC a try at $20. All it's missing is official custom difficulty, but it's still there.

An absolute amazing first level to open Ch2 with in CULTIC. From excellent atmosphere to well telegraphed secrets. Throw in the new enemies and this is truly something special in an FPS. Also yes, the pool table is fully functional. I HIGHLY recommend anyone pick this up. Shoutout to the dev team!

Sunlust map 6 "Neo Gerouru". What we have here is an example of very tight encounters with rockets and shotguns that'll really hone your ability to focus down the biggest threat quickly. Throw in a speed strafing secret via platforms and we have a perfect teacher for what's to come. #DOOM

After 2 attempts on the TFB, I'm finally free. This was a very good experience and I look forward to finally discussing it with others and seeing what the discourse is. Only a handful of minor complaints. Would recommend

Tonight Silksong will be finished and then I'll reward myself with some Sunlust and finally sink my teeth into CULTIC ch2. I have extended thoughts on Silksong, but it's the perfect "normal" difficulty level for me. That much I know. Pretty chill playthrough.

Sunlust map 5 "Gear Up" is a hot start map that requires quick thinking on the fly as one move will aggro the first fight and you will either die or flee to a safe distance to pick off chain-gunners. The secrets here are mostly ways to make later fights a tad more doable. Great stuff #DOOM

Hopefully finishing my initial run of Silksong this weekend and so far it's mostly praise from me. Nothing seemed like bs, no head against a wallfights or moments, not even any bs platforming. I feel the game gives you all the tools you need to improve and overcome challenges. Very impressed.

Just reaching "Act 2", I must say I really enjoy Silksong so far. It's been pretty easy going for me and it finally clicked after fighting the phantom of the opera boss. They had sauce and were really fun to fight in those 3 attempts. The mist was also fun to figure out in my short time there.

Map 4 "Sol" with an absolute banger of an OST from the "Ancient Aliens" wad, this levels opens up fast and hits hard. This is our first trial of learning how to strafe around and crowd control enemies. Just keep focused and don't panic when new ones spawn in when you try to run away. #DOOM
