In the 90s, there were so many Julie Browns that we had to specify which ones were regular Julie Browns and which ones were from downtown.

Not trying to be annoying but calling Tom of Finland a queer artist instead of a gay artist feels erasive to me. He was a gay men who made foundational art for gay men and faced homophobia for it. Like I get the impetus to be inclusive, but it’s a bit like calling Leonardo da Vinci “Mediterranean”.
