joywithbrent on Instagram: "🚨 THEY WANT TO POISON TAHOE FORESTS 🚨The Forest Service has approved spraying up to 24,000 pounds of glyphosate across more than …" 🚨 THEY WANT TO POISON TAHOE FORESTS 🚨The Forest Service has approved spraying up to 24,000 pounds of glyphosate across more than 3,000+ acres in the Lake Tahoe region. 😳And they pushed it through using an “emergency declaration” to bypass the normal public feedback process… which is outrageous🤯This is one of the most fragile and beautiful alpine ecosystems in the world🌲💔🧪 Glyphosate has been heavily criticized over concerns tied to cancer, biodiversity loss, soil degradation, and environmental harm and is at the center of hundreds of lawsuits for Head massive poisonous effects. And once sprayed, it doesn’t just disappear❌💧 It can move through soil, runoff, snowmelt, streams, and ultimately into Lake Tahoe itself.⚠️ Wildlife exposed through food and water ⚠️ Pollinators and native species harmed ⚠️ Pets and families exposed on trails ⚠️ Potential contamination flowing toward the lake 🌱 The most frustrating part? There ARE alternative restoration methods available:• Manual thinning • Controlled burns • Mechanical removal • Native restoration • Grazing programs They take more effort and investment — but protecting Tahoe should never be about choosing the cheapest option.😔 Several local environmental organizations still have not formally engaged on this issue due to “bandwidth”… which is insanity to me. TRPA won’t let you build a cement pad in your backyard without jumping through months of hoops but they (as of now) are not fighting this issue!
