This afternoon’s visit to the Old Church of St John the Baptist, Greatham, Hampshire. Built in 1282, it served the local community for around 600 years before a new church was built across the road. A quiet place steeped in centuries of prayer and village life. #WanderingPilgrim #Churches

In the quiet of St. Anne’s Chapel, Romsey Abbey, a 10th-century Saxon Rood watches over the centuries. Limestone figures capture the Crucifixion. Christ, Mary, St John, and the Roman soldiers Longinus and Stephaton. Small, ancient, and quietly powerful, it feels like a whisper from the past.

Bramber Castle, West Sussex. This motte-and-bailey castle was built by William de Braose shortly after the Norman Conquest. The parish church was founded in 1073 as part of his residence and defences. Today, it is the only part of the castle complex still standing and remains in regular use.
