I redid the smelter from the far right one to the middle one adding an iron frame and some chains. I think it looks better?

Things I dislike in games: ❌ crafting/gathering takes way too long ❌ excessive stamina in games restricting gameplay ❌ untuned hunger/thirst requirements ❌ untuned durability ❌ holding E for too long ❌ diablo-style inventories ❌ motion blur, camera shake, head bobbing ❌ music on 100% volume at start

Blue path or Green path when interacting with objects in a game? Think like a crafting table or an object like a tree or mining node.

In games, I'm not a fan of holding E for longer processing events like gathering, etc.

This is amazing. If you like Minecraft...gotta give this a go! Everwind!

I've been watching people play demos and also enjoying several myself. Here's the ones on deck next.

I do want to incorporate dragging and dropping raw materials to craft and also modifier key and right click or something to move it automatically. Something I’ll figure out and refine as I test the crafting further. Plus I just want to know how to do it :)

I need to take some time to map out the flow of using the stations. Like with smelting. Right now it pops up automatically if within range for crafting rather than pressing E. If you walk away it closes too. To use it, right now all mouse click and craft with no dragging yet.

Learned about mesh libraries to make rooms and areas faster and also messed with GPU particles for some effects on the smelter. Lots to learn! #godot

Smelter to work with ores and Fireplace for cooking modeled and imported as base placeholder. Amazing what a newbie can do learning on the fly but having a blast! #blender #godot

A very crude inventory system is in when items are picked up. more to come on this but liking how it's coming out. #godot

Made some progress. Crafting window now shows when next to bench. Based upon the skill you have, you can craft some basic stuff if you have the resources. Can't chop trees or mine rocks without the tools. Added outline around objects. Love this! #godot #blender

I’m also doing all my own models and at the moment pretty basic ones to get placeholders. I could’ve used premade assets but I like doing my own thing and learning all the skills required for making a game plus I don’t have a time frame and I don’t need money. :)

I think every game I play has some form of an inventory system so it’s neat to think about what features I like from them like stack counts, sorting, etc.

Next thing I want to do is being able to interact with the workbench, show the crafting window, and then based upon raw mats in bag, you select an item and click craft. Pretty fun thinking it all out and being able to do it.

I got a mock crafting window built to show the item in the first column, the name of it, and what resources it's going to take. Buttons at the bottom include salvaging an item already obtained. Not to figure out how to call it from any scene when a button is pressed. :) #godot

In Blender I made a shape the size of the player to make objects relative to that size and it seems to be working as a guide. Before my stuff was way too small or too large.

I completed Gotham the series. What a great show. 10 out of 10 stars.

I tried for about an hour or so to get a simple animation working and learned how to do animations and key frames but didn’t quite make it work. More fun tomorrow!

I'm making some progress in my little sandbox having a blast! Centralized my sound player across scenes. Expanded the bottom resource bar and included a fade in/out label when picking items up and when a tool is acquired (i modeled the axe), appears on right of panel. #godot4 #indiedev #blender3d

Using AI properly to speed up learning and research is amazing. It is helping me rapidly get back into game dev.

More Godot fun today learning more about the 3D side. Maybe some more asset modeling to import too from Blender. Thinking of building out a simple workbench craft station.

Thinking of starting a streaming or dev blog series called “Dirty but Functional” where I share my journey back into game dev. #godot

Was going to stream some of the game dev but couldn’t get myself to go live.

Jumped back into Blender. Pleased how much I retained since last using it. Messed with creating a dungeon wall, textured it and marked seams, exported and imported into Godot. Also did some additional pixel art for when hacks fail and systems go into lockdown. #pixelart #godot
