Pileated Woodpecker. Did you know they rarely reuse the same nesting cavity twice, creating "real estate" for other animals like owls, ducks, and bats that cannot build their own homes?

HERE IT IS: Earlier this month, without any planning, I drove 6 hrs to the desert to capture the last full lunar eclipse until December 2028 Over 3 hours I shot over 3000 stills, but not the stars Last Tuesday I drove 4 hrs to capture the stars After 30+ hrs figuring out editing, this is DONE 🧵

Belted kingfisher did you know They do not nest in trees. Instead, they dig long burrows, which can be 3 to 12 feet deep, into the soft, sandy banks of rivers and streams. The tunnels are often angled upward to prevent flooding.

CAPTURED! (1933) a rarely shown movie, will be on @tcm on December 17th for a Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. line-up! Stars DFJ and Leslie Howard as POWs during WWI. This film is also significant because it played a role in getting Warner Bros. banned in Nazi Germany

Ocellated Antbirds are one of the shyest Costa Rican antbirds and they very seldom get close. But there were a few family groups this morning with a bunch of hungry young birds and the adults were busy showing them how to hunt for insects flushed by the army ants.

One movie a day for 365 days - just the movies I like. 25/365: Top Hat. It goes from fun to magic and back to fun. There should be a law enforcing people around the world to watch this once a year. It would be a better place.
