This morning I spent time talking about @iowafaithclimate.bsky.social with the Golden Valley District @uwfaith.bsky.social in Washington, Iowa. Talked about the importance of clean energy and helped the women craft their climate stories to take action! Not a shabby Saturday for climate advocacy.

It's been out more than a week and I'm still pumped about this new resource we created at @iowafaithclimate.bsky.social! As @katharinehayhoe.com says, one of the best climate actions you can take is talking about it. And this resource gives an avenue into that.

Sen. Strom Thurmond voted against the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, AND supported Jim Crow laws. Thurmond’s record for longest floor speech (in protest of the Civil Rights Act, no less!) was just broken by a Black man, my good friend Cory Booker. That’s America.

I was literally just ready to stand and recite the pledge of allegiance with @booker.senate.gov.

Just called @booker.senate.gov's DC office and left a message to thank him and his staff. My Iowa Senators continue to roll over to this administration and seeing Booker stand up for all Americans, including those of us in red states, is giving me hope today.

In the midst of it all, excited to hear joy.

A few months ago we got a letter from our home insurance saying they were going to come by and look at the house. Then a few weeks ago we got a letter that if we didn’t fix the roof, we’d lose our coverage. Fun times.

Fact: They didn’t fear what breaking the Dept of Education would do to their kids. Their kids are in fancy private schools. They are dismantling the Dept of Ed so our kids have no choice but to be undereducated and work for their kids.
