Having loved the original as a 6 year old, I've been watching the new Walking with Dinosaurs with my boy. My honest views after 2 episodes? Whilst the new version does more to reveal the science behind palaeontology, it distracts too much from the 'dino narrative' that made the original so good.

The NHS is so often really brilliant but today it has been a real let down. Op cancelled last minute (not for me), poor comms between hospital and GP, and to patient who has been left in the lurch after so long waiting. Frustrating.

A new term starts tomorrow and we're introducing booklets to our KS3 enquiries in History for the first time. One of my team has just replanned our British Empire unit so I'm excited to see how students respond to it.

After a bit of a hiatus from gaming (played Starfield to death except the new DLC) I've now got a few games on the go. Star Wars Outlaws and AC Mirage have both been fun but I'm not hooked to either. Now giving STALKER 2 a go and quite enjoying it so far.

We've changed our KS3 assessment system this year to have three formal assessments throughout the year. This is one of our Y7 assessments from this term having just done our River Kings enquiry, What stories are hidden in a carnelian bead?

Visited Flag Fen near Peterborough for the first time today. Really interesting place that includes this hall where part of the circa three thousand year old causeway is preserved by keeping it permanently waterlogged.

Having lived in Ely for a few years now, I spent some time planning an enquiry on the history of the Fens. Visiting Wicken and Welney have helped me come to really appreciate the beauty and calm of the wetland and see what it probably meant to live here centuries ago.

It's been an exhausting half term for sure but I'm so happy with how my new look team gives our students such a good deal. Lessons are calm and purposeful and they've taken History beyond the classroom into assembly halls, form rooms and even our local primary school.
