Great day chasing the Palmer Divide today! Followed a supercell for several hours to the east. It tried hard to produce a tornado a few times, but couldn’t quite get it done. Fun chase nonetheless! #cowx

Nice supercell early on yesterday near Cromer Manitoba 🇨🇦, then chased by an intense squall after crossing back in North Dakota late last night!

I’ve been testing out the WxFront app for a few days now and it’s a powerful app. Been debating about getting a subscription, and with these planned features, along with what’s already there, I think an upgrade is needed and WxFront will become my primary radar app!

Hey @wxfront.bsky.social any plans on adding any of these three features? 1) Adding custom locations that appear on the map like any town 2) Getting alerts for those saved locations when in a severe/tor warning 3) Archived radar data Think that would push me to upgrade for those! 👀

Gorgeous images! I was on radar this day and watching this supercell pop just outside of PUB’s CWA and then go on to produce this harmless photogenic tornado really annoyed me 😂 I was ready for this exact thing but a county or two south lol

The Windsor,CO tor was an oddball tornado for a couple of reasons. 1. It developed during the AM hours, which is unusual for Colorado. 2. The tor motion was to the NNW! Honorable mentions: The tor was 1 mile wide, a legitimate wedge tor and it’s one of only a handful of EF3 tornadoes for Colorado.

Uhg it’s May! I should be concerned with forecasting and messaging convective concerns, not more fire weather conditions! Plus, just moisture in general would be nice 😩

Lightning is always such a fun thing to photograph! I just got my Bolt Hunter today so looking forward to the first opportunity I can get to go out and shoot some⛈️⚡️

I can tolerate this May snow as long as we’re loading up the Palmer Divide for some June madness and tubes like Simla 2015🌪️ (but also any moisture is very welcome!)

What's one way the RFD might be important? Inflow-outflow balance I.e., collecting pre-tornadic vert-vorticity (vortex patches) beneath the low-level meso (LLMC) such that it can be stretched into tornadic intensity. When the RFD isn't surging "forward", vortices may be... 🧵

Here’s something pretty cool! The circled streaks on the LWIR band from GOES-East show areas of cooler temperatures caused by heavy rain from strong thunderstorms yesterday. #cowx

I do enjoy radar ops so much. Being in the weeds of the mesoanalysis/data and then warning on storms as they take advantage of the environment you’ve been examining the first part of your shift is pretty cool!

Well that escalated quickly. First severe thunderstorm warnings of the season issued today for myself and the office. Storms just needed to get to the better moisture and a little push, which came from decaying mountain showers/storms. #cowx

Oh how I’ve missed the sound of rain and thunder. So therapeutic at the office currently 😌

Yeah it was a tad warm today in Pueblo, with a new February monthly record high temp. Just walking outside the office to get some steps in and the warmth was noticeable, even with the winds. This heat needs to return to June though😂

Alrighty photography inclined people, I’m considering an upgrade to the Canon R6iii from my Nikon Z6. I’m not super deep into the Nikon ecosystem, and the main thing I’m wanting is an upgrade to the sensor without shattering the bank (i.e a Z8 or Z9). Anyone got thoughts or advice? #photography

Sunrise at Lake Pueblo State Park a couple of days ago. It was windier than I was expecting, so that was a challenge. However, it did make for some interesting photos with slower shutter speeds, showing the chaos of the water, but not completely “freezing” the waves. #landscapephotography #sunrise

Another morning at the lake today. ‘‘Twas a bit windy this morning though as gap flow winds were howling, making photography a bit difficult. Put lots of motion into the water though, so will be interesting to see how that turns out!
